I don't mean to pick on the Public Health again as we all understand the department's financial plight. However, we've heard that the hundreds of nurses are now worried that their benefits will be removed from their compensation packages.
Come early next year this will be implemented according to some nurses we've spoken this week. These benefits include housing allowance and so much more. When these nurses especially the non-residents were hired, part of the attraction to work here are the benefits.
Some said what could they do about it when the department has money problems....
What do you think?
The Reveler
well, as cinta has suggested, if they dont like it .......
ReplyDeletein reality though, we need to be able to keep as many of them as we can. for some reason, chamorros seem to favor getting deathly ill this time of year.... (shrugs) if they wind up leaving, who will take care of old benny fitial? oh wait, unlike the rest of us, he's wealthy enough to afford going off-island for better care.
I think we need to do all we can paywise, as with every other necessary job.. but nurses across the US do not get such benefits as housing and transportation. Pay everyone a reasonable salary and let them make their own way like everyone else in the world.
ReplyDelete(and by reasonable I don't mean $4, $5, $6 or $7 an hour.
You ain't got no money, honey
ReplyDeleteI ain't got no time...
This works everywhere.
All I ask is if we can have more eye-candy nurses. And for some of the nurses working at CHC, please shave your beard and trim the hairs growing out of your mole. It looks like a chia pet.
ReplyDeleteOh.... and leave the betelnut home!
ReplyDeleteIt's one thing to not include those benefits into a contract, but it's another to use the governments "right to change the contract at anytime" clause to renege on negotiated payment.
If you don't like the terms of your contract - don't sign it in the first place. When you do sign it, you agree to everything that is in the contract, even if it is not in your interest.
