KGMB reports that Tan Holdings sister company L&T Group of Compannies has been fined and agreed to pay a whopping $1.7M to settle series of lawsuits with regard to its labor practices.
The report said that "the three-year, court-enforced consent decree will resolve four EEOC discrimination lawsuits against the employers and their affiliates: Tan Holdings Corporation; Tan Holdings Overseas, Inc.; Concorde Garment Manufacturing Corp.; Micro Pacific, Inc.; Seasonal Inc.; and L&T International Corp.
The EEOC filed the cases in U.S. District Court for the Northern Mariana Islands."
Soooo.... old news.. kind of like nibbling on Juan Pan's stale bread.
ReplyDeleteShit.. you guys/gals are are so far behind the news. Keep your day jobs, but look around for something new. Even the WIA kids outclass you people... and they are learning how this island works.
1.7m? Shit, CNMI AGs spend more on coke in a six month period.
ReplyDeletea loyal and mad L&T supporter are you noni?
ReplyDeleteWIA? geez, any third grader can outwit them....
Nope, not a L&T fan. I think L&T are the scum of this earth. Think they have paid out close to 9 million dollars in labor fines in the past two decades. The most in the history of US labor disputes. Who knows how much in lobbying efforts to sleazebags such as Jack Abramoff?
ReplyDeleteJust shows to what extent Willie Tan will go to continue his business as usual tactics. Scary to think he own's much of Saipan businesses and some of the inhabitants of this fine island.
Including the Saipan Tribune
ReplyDeleteHopefully, the feds are done with the roundup.
ReplyDeleteRead the case and it is about the corruption of Tan, Fitial, and Eloy Inos.
ReplyDeleteThe two local newspapers are a joke (and always will be) as far as detailed reporting goes. Wendy Dormal's blog has an amazing amount of detail about this case.
ReplyDeleteand she's a lousy piece of trash
ReplyDeleteHey, that's uncalled for, to call her names.
ReplyDeleteI agree that her blog can be conclusory, her posts based on unwarranted assumptions, and that the overall focus is tendentious advocacy of her ultra-liberal (not an insult) views. That is her right.
She is also generally civil and fair, though she does condone personal attacks by other commenters against those who do not agree with her.
Still, she is very sincere. Those OCWs who have not yet come to the realization that minimum wage federalization is costing them jobs, and immigration federalization the same, view Wendy as a heroine.
She does do a valuable service reporting on matters our local press is too incompetent to adequately cover, and spends her own money making federal court documents open to the public.
So Wendy is certainly well-intentioned.
Wendy? Well-intentioned? She is in Websters under 'self -interest'. She lives for the ill-gotten praise the naive contract workers heap on her. She is the IBM Selectric office tool of the Stayman, Miller, Pelosi set. She is used and uses others in turn.
ReplyDeleteCranky, menopausal, myopic, anticapitalist, far-left extremist? Yes to all, but Well-intentioned? Sorry, I'm not buying that swamp.
Don't forget her pal AUSA Benedetto. Two peas in a pod.
ReplyDeleteLOL, Jim is menopausal?
