An alleged Filipino resident of Saipan, in his mid-50's passed away on board Continental last Wednesday. He was alone. No chaperones. According to passengers, the poor man underwent a heart bypass in Manila and was returning back to Saipan on a wheel chair. The man had a heart attack while on air.
Kudos to the Filipino nurses on board that tried to revive the man. There was no doctor on board at that time. The plane had to land on Guam airport to bring the man to hospital but he didn't make it. The passengers said the nurses and stewards tried to locate his bag on the plane but failed. They were hoping to find medications in his handcarry.
A tragedy is a tragedy. Just wondering if the poor man had a clearance to travel...
I think you mean "in" air. An "on air" tragedy would be if he died in the middle of a radio broadcast.

ReplyDeletei heard in the radio last night that the family is in need of help to bring the body here. Is it continental responsibility to brought the body here since he died on board and his ticket was Manila to Saipan? Just my thought to lessen the financial burden of the family. My condolences to the family.

The unexpected death of a loved one is a cause for great grief, but is not a “tragedy.” It is a natural part of the cycle of life.
Unfortunately modern man has succumbed to a morbid fear of death, as he has drawn further and further away from G-d.
Right. So when the newly unemployled/unemployable Dept. of Labor officials set themselves on fire, we shouldn't cry a river. Of all the lame comments I have read on all the lame/half assed on line papers and attack blogs, this crap ass takes the cake. Every death is a loss and a tragedy, otherwise one might as well go on the gov't dime, where one self-immolation could be seen as a tax saving device.

can you imagine how physically taxing it must've been to try and roll his chair across the philippine sea to saipan?
he was ambitious, i'll give him that. but someone should have been looking out for this poor man.
this is much worse than a similar event that occurred in 2001 when a man attempted to make the same journey using a walker.
