Hollywood Theaters on Bid?

How true is it that an interested and prominent business group is willing to take over on managing the only movie house on the island? However, I heard there's a problem with this deal since the landlord is hiking the rental fee.

I was able to talk to some people and in their opinion or personal view, the local government should have stepped in to maintain this theater. Is that possible? Would it matter at all?

Let us know...

why would the government step in for a movie theater?

Hmmm, is someone smoking crack? Because that sounds like a crackish rumor. Like Brad said, why in tarnation would the government step in to maintain the theater?

Sorry, but this just does not make any sense, not even for government standards....

A government-run movie theater? :P

"Showing tomorrow - a double feature - Smokey and the Bandit and The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas!"

The government can't afford fuel.. what would make anyone think they could afford new hit movies? And even if they could come up with the cash.. they wouldn't know what to do with it. The theater would be filled with 40 employees, and what little was left would go to "Smokey and the Bandit".

Keep the government OUT. They have enough red herrings already.

I doubt that the government will step in. However! this'll give the Tan's an open opp to grab whatever businesses that give up on the CNMI. Then we'll have a bigger problem. Goodness, can you imagine the Tan's running this island. Eww! What a sick thought.

are you kidding? The Tan's ran this island for 20 years. Willy doesn't even live on Saipan anymore.. having milked that cow dry.

Hello people of the CNMI! Stop in the name of love. May you have peace of mind all.

i think he's living off-island for fear of being the recipient of "milk" in his "coffer" when the feds take him away to prison.

It doesn't surprise me that a chickenshit like Willy Tan would flee the island. What a truly awful person: he's willing to exploit Saipan and the poor to make himself fabulously wealthy. And Ben Fitial came along for the ride, greasing the skids as we went...
