I agree. I used to post using my own name and associated with my gmail account. I stopped when someone brought one of my family members (like they are doing here) into the conversation. I now post only anonymous.
I witnessed Jeff Turbitt, Angelo and Bruce do this often when a commenter did not agree with them. Sad that they resort to personal attacks that are not issue driven. I think that is why they are so determined to discover the identities of the anonymous bloggers, so they can do what they did to Roberta and what they are trying to do now to Glenn.

Lets see if I can put my two cents in here.
1 - Incest jokes? Really? Really?
2 - I did contact Bruce directly via his blog. I also sent him an email. My concern was not with his claims that I was the author of the Pragamtic Plato site but the crass statements he made about others.
3 - I called Perry in February about similar complaints I had gotten from people about the language and statements he was making then. I emailed him again yesterday after I had been informed of the current post that Bruce put on his site. That entire email was posted above in one of the comments.
4 - I have read the Pragmatic Plato blog and although it is very direct and a bit too blunt and often times very comical I see no problem at all with it. I would hope we had more people call things as they see it.
5 - Anyone who is posting statements that I am a coward because I am afraid to express my opinion obviously does not know me and has never spoken to me. I do not need an alias to state what is on my mind. I do not sugar coat things and I am direct and opinionated with everyone that I talk to.
6 - I would never work for a company or hold a job where I would have to stifle my personal opinions on public matters in order to retain it. That mentality is the reason the CNMI is such a terrible state at the moment. I believe in freedom of speech and if ever that right is taken away from me or restricted then I will deal with it accordingly.
7 - Here is a brief summary as to why this issue has even arisen:
I read a couple columns that Zaldy wrote and published in the Variety. I did not agree with Zaldy and so I contacted him via my email (from glenhunter@gmail.com) and asked for further clairification on some points. He declined an offer to discuss it with me. I sent him numerous emails detailing the errors contained in his articles and expressing my opinions and my take on the issue. He got upset and sent an email to Angelo Villagomez telling him I was Pragmatic Plato. I received a threatening email from Angelo regarding this. I responded to Angelo and Zaldy and told them that I would gladly accept the claim to authoring Plato's site. Angelo told Bruce. Bruce was upset with me for calling Perry in February of 2009 when he viciously attacked Robertta Guerrero online. Bruce then decided to post his latest blog a couple days ago.
I can verify all of this with saved emails.
I am also very available to anyone that would like to sit down with me and discuss my opinions or would like to give me a ring or send me an email.
Just because my opinion may be different than yours isn't the end of the world. Starting a war over those differences may be.

I could care less who you think I am or who anyone thinks I am. I speak my mind openly on any subject when I feel like it. When I choose to speak on a topic, I do not do so in order to gain anyone's favor. I do not care whether my beliefs are shared by others. I follow the various sources of information and misinformation, and I engage people in conversation when I feel like doing so. Sometimes I send off emails. Sometimes I talk directly to people. At times I post comments online, and almost all of my comments online are posted anonymously. My posts always revolve around the issue at hand. I do not create alter egos that state things I would not say to anyone in person and I don't create characters that profess ideas or beliefs that run contrary to my own. I am not on any team and I don't care to be.
I must say it is interesting that you are so determined to put a face to anonymous blog authors who are critical of public statements made by you and other people. After reading your email conversation with Zaldy, I think it is quite clear that you two are extremely concerned about what people say about your positions on certain subjects. Are you and Zaldy as concerned about the identities of anonymous bloggers who agree with you? Do you both sit around and try to determine who it was that might have posted a compliment about you or your work in the community? Do you send them similar emails that you have just sent me? Do you ask them to remove their comments?
Zaldy claims that he has seen a side of me he would rather have not seen. What does he base that statement on? I have had about three face to face conversations with him in my life, and they were relatively superficial and non-substantive. I have been critical about certain statements he has made in his recent op-ed pieces that I had found to be slanted and biased. I initially asked him for more information on how he came to such conclusions. I challenged him in an effort to determine if I had missed something in all of my research on the subject. He was unable to substantiate his statements with facts.
I never once hid my identity and my initial email to him was a call to meet and sit down with me. He opted not to. That is his choice.
Your email from Zaldy showed him trying to link me to a "dude who pestered you about funds". He states that as if it were a bad thing. I wish there were more dudes pestering people about funds. Wouldn't it be great if Zaldy and his reports "pestered" everyone about things like funds?
Zaldy goes on to say that he thought I was a nice guy at first and that after speaking to me has discovered I am not. Is that supposed to hurt my feelings? I really don't care whether he thinks I am "nice" or not. Why should I? But if challenging his ideas and engaging him in debate are seen as mean and personally hateful acts, then I simply will not speak to him in the future.
Perhaps you and Zaldy should review what it is that you are so upset about and look at the heart of your position. Are you really upset that anonymous bloggers post online? Or is it that someone may not be on "your team" and may have differing opinions that challenge yours – opinions that rely on facts and not feelings?
Call me Plato, call me Ed, call me Lil, call me Wendy, call me Writer, call me whoever you want. I don't really care what you call me, nor do I care why it matters to you to know who I am or am not.

What are the "recent complaints" that I have against you that you are referring to? What past complaints?
You seem to be doing a lot of talking about people behind their backs. People I meet from time to time volunteer information about what you may have said. I don't really care and so I don't even engage them in any further conversations about what you may have said about me.
At the moment you are running for mayor. You may want to be prepared to answer a varied array of questions and respond to concerns people may have. Nothing forces you to. You can choose to just ignore the questions and concerns. If I have any questions or concerns I will pose them to you and perhaps to other candidates.

I've been on the island for 5 months now. I have always signed my name when I post here, and I am happy to share which candidates I support. I've worked in political campaigns and government my entire adult life, working races nationally and locally, from Manhattan, to Anchorage, to Gilchrist County, Florida (population 12,000), so I have seen my share of slugfests and personal attacks... but I have to say, having watched these comments on this thread, it is exceptionally disturbing to see the discourse fostered here.
The racism, the xenophobia, the hatred against women, the homophobia, the just plain nastiness... wow.
And of course, the personal attacks-- I know I'm about to get mine... "GO HOME" "GTFO WHITE BOY" and then someone is gonna talk about my family, sister, girlfriend. Or threaten violence or call me a 'queer.' So senseless.
I'm not shying away from active discourse and there are worthy issues to debate here... (friends, the FBI considers this one of the most corrupt jurisdictions in the country) but these forums lose their relevancy and collapse into absurdity and gross entertainment.

It's a good thing he bought ads, the candidates who didn't were left out.
On a Sunday people go to pray and then come to blogs to spew hatred. How very sad.
Just goes to show that the Variety's focus is not on news and getting the full story out to the public. They ran an insert which they labeled "Mayoral Candidates 2009". I grabbed it out of the paper and leafed through it and realized that the Variety only ran a story on 4 of 9 Mayor Candidates. They did not even mention at all a full listing of the candidates and did not do a "newsworthy" piece on anyone that did not pay for at least one ad. In Angelo's case he paid for 5 so they gave him front billing and a full page story.
What a terrible injustice for a paper to do to the community. Why not run an insert that contains a newsworthy story on each of the 9 candidates. Give each candidate the ability to buy as many ads as they want to supplement their candidacy in that insert.
The way the Variety handled this is truly disgusting. I would hope that the 4 candidates that bought into this scheme were fully unaware of this and are now somewhat ashamed by the resulting insert. That insert could cost one candidate my vote if they don't step up and speak out about this.
One candidate went publicly on record prior to the insert running to state that this insert would be the basis by which a large majority of the population will choose their Mayor. How does it feel to you now that 5 out of the 9 candidates were not even named in that same insert? Should voters still base their decision on that same insert?

The Variety ran a supplemental that was billed as the Mayorial Candidates of 2009. The only way for a reported to include a candidate in this supplemental was if the candidate purchased an advertisement. If they opted not to purchase a separate advertisement then they were not at all even mentioned as being a Candidate (a bit misleading considering it was an Insert labeled as such and gave no indication that this was not a complete list of candidates).
There is nothing wrong with advertising. There is nothing wrong with supplementals. There is something wrong with a Newspaper running individual stories written by journalist on 4 of 9 candidates for mayor. That actually may be illegal and should be at least frowned upon by the public that relies on unbiased (even advertising bias) reporting. The stories were not Press Releases. They were authored by a Variety reporter and reported as newsworthy stories.
So none of the candidates know how much it costs?

If surrounding yourself with crooks and drug dealers, from your Lt. Governor to your personal bodyguard and driver to your commerce secretary to your lobbyist in America Jack Abramoff to your senior policy adviser who has ZERO college degree and a history of beating up on Filipinos and choked a student at NMC is character, then so be it.
If promising better times and bringing the worst of times and then finding excuses for why times are so bad is character, then so be it.
If leading by "emergency declarations" is character, then so be it.
If sole-sourcing millions of dollars of contracts to political friends and family is character, then so be it.
If firing highly qualified people because they disagree with you is character, then so be it.
If reneging on a promise of not touching CNMI funds for a federalization lawsuit only to end up using it and then FAILING to disclose how much is being spent is character, then so be it.
If running CHC to the ground to the point where there is no nephrologist, no lab director, half of the required blood supply, doctors leaving abruptly and suddenly, and making CHC a shell of what it once was is character, then so be it.
If circumventing CNMI law by exceeding the number of days an attorney general can be "acting" is character, then so be it.
If bowing down to WILLIE TAN because he gave you a ton of money and favors is character, then so be it.
Ben Tan has no character. What he does have his a track record of lying, deceiving, and spinning the truth. Ben Tan will certainly lose this election because he will never be able to get 50% plus 1 of the votes. He will be lucky to get 20%. Off-island voters hate Ben Tan, for they left because things were so miserable here.
Ben Tan will be gone come January, and he will be a memory of the past and we can use his four years of lying as a blueprint on what NOT TO DO when Governor.
The nice thing is that we will see the Fitialites removed as well, from GARMENT WHORES Dick Pierce to Lynn Knight to POLITICAL WHORES Deanne Slimer and Howard Cryptkeeper Willens to THUGS Ramon Mafnas and ice dealer/personal bodyguard Pete Reyes to the INCOMPETENCE of Melvin Faisao, Candy Taman, and a horde of others.
Ben Tan is going to lose and lose big. Charlie Reyes Jr hopefully will find a girlfriend and hopefully he won't sue her. Ramon Mafnas will hopefully enter the octagon and see if he can still choke out Korean students or beat up on Filipinos. Howard Willens and Deane Seimer will hopefully get a fucking makeover or finally decide to put a bag over their heads. Deane, for the love of God, you do not have to look that ugly. Is this the same Deanne Siemer that was charged with gross ethics violations while prcticing law int he mainland less than 10 years ago? Wasn't she fined $500,000 and removed from the case and disbarred from practicing law in that state and removed from that firm? Didn't they include that ethics violation case in the textbooks that lawyers now study on WHAT NOT TO DO and use her as an example?
Why on earth are we allowing her to volunteer out here? Fitial keeps some very surly characters close by him.
Maybe she is volunteering because she can not legally practice since she had that ethics violation?

She is an active member of the CNMI Bar fully licensed to practice in the CNMI.

You cleared up one thing. She is a member of our CNMI Bar... did she really have that ethics violation in regards to a case she was handling in the states?
If so, did the CNMI Bar know this? Do they care? Isn't Maya Kara (the lady working together with Deanne right now) the head of the bar here in the CNMI?
Can someone clear up the other stuff?
I mean c'mon being a member of the bar here in the CNMI... Isn't this the same place where a known drug user was driving the governor around and carrying a firearm?
And none of the AUSAs are members of the local bar, the only place in the country where that is the case.
Why is Ed so bitter? Because he can't buy land even though he is 25% NMD.

ADMINISTRATION UPSET AND WILL NOT MOVE ON

The current Administration is extremely upset at a carry over from the previous administration that he believes is responsible for this controversy.
“After looking into this Reyes incident more thoroughly it is clear now,” said Charles, “that a former Babauta appointee from the previous administration is responsible for everything.” Fitial is furious that his initial desk audit of political loyalist did not turn up this individual who is responsible for this current incident when he took office. “At that time I put in place my buddies in every department. Their mission was simple. Check all staff and remove anyone tied to any party other than the Covenant Green party. I was assured this had been done! I am appalled that one slipped through. Heads are going to roll.” He went on to say, “ after the Local DPS covert and surprise drug bust slated for Friday at 2:00pm he will assemble the one remaining department head and all acting department heads and find out who is responsible.”
Reporters have discovered that the person that is the focus of Fitial’s anger is one Joe Senpasdot. He apparently was put in charge of destroying public records and inadvertently forgot to burn all outstanding drug test results and inter department evaluations and communications. We contacted him for a response but he was unavailable at the time. His wife however is asking for the communities help. It appears he has been missing since this story broke 5 days ago.
Fitial asked that we include a quote from him in this article. “This is just another negative result of Federalization. Please DEA do not bring charges against Pete Reyes. Like me, he is allergic to lawsuits. Let it BE!”

If you're planning on voting for Kilili, I feel you dawg, I feel you. I just think you're making a mistake if you're voting for him on purpose. Greg is a nice guy and has said a number of nice things during his campaign. While he did an admirable job running the CNMI's elections, I just don't want him to win this one because he's not the guy for the job. That said, if I tripped on my way to the voting booth and accidentally cast my ballot for him I'd feel fine about it.
