Popstar Rihanna must be singing all over the islands today....Her Grammy winning song "Umbrella" lingers in the Marianas....
However, this "Umbrella" in the CNMI is about the permit that will be distributed to the "alien" or contract workers that according to Saipan Tribune about 9,000 to 11,000 will be given away next week. Ahhh...sounds like a winning prize in a Wheel of Fortune game on TV.
So, what do you think of this move from the CNMI Dept. of Labor?

Yet another example of proven experience and strong leadership. Thank you Uncle Ben!
Uncle Ben should take no bows for this, it was his boss Willie Tan's resistance to the federalization bill that had grandfather pulled out, it had Chnese/Russian visa waivers, plus unlimited H-1 visas.
So don't thank that crook.
A good economy helps all of us, so, yes, I will vote for Ben and Eloy because of all they're doing to save our economy despite the best efforts of the Feds to punish us because we have been victimized by Abramoff and foreign employers who have flouted federal law with impunity for three decades.
As for Ben being a "crook," that is the slander of hostile, petty partisans whose own candidates merely talk rather than take action.
Ben is a man of integrity whose sole consideration is to do the right thing to help our people.
He is literally pouring out the last years of his life to serve us. He has no possible ulterior motive -- like need for financial gain -- to do anything improper.
This Umbrella Permit is a perfect example -- he is all about helping others and service.
Biba!
So what did the speakers have to say at Saturday's umbrella convention?
From "Save us Feds!" to "Save us from the Feds!"
I love it.
"Federalization: You asked for it; you got it!"
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, that is, not whatever the Governor's former driver was selling.
The Feds don't fool around, with drug dealers, human traffickers, or overstayers.
Biba!
It's a disgusting knee-jerk move, that comes as a result of unadulterated racism, that is only trumped by fears of losing cheap labor. That's it.
This horrible administration (and some legislators and business crooks)lobbied against providing any kind of special status or path to citizenship for any non-resident workers. Why? Because they fear losing power.
This horrible administration (and some legislators and business crooks) lobbied hard against paying any kind of increased wages.
A contingent fought hard to ensure Congresswoman Sablan's bill to give a five year permit went nowhere.
Now at the brink of federalization and desperate, they throw this out because of fear of losing labor, and as a result of their purely racist positions over the past two years.
Pox on these idiot racists!
Ben is a crook. He's also blatantly racist.
Stop pretending he aint.
what does this have to do with race?
A Question aside:
If US Customs takes over des that mean we fill out the US Customs frm on teh airplane? Do we sill have to fill out the customs forms to send packages to and from US mainland?
No and no. From the 28th on, the CNMI becomes the first point of entry into the United States of America.
LET IT BEN & ELOY!!!!
Sorry, Captain, not quite right.
Within the U.S., Customs and Immigration were combined for efficiency when DHS was formed in March 2003, with the former having been part of Treasury and the latter of Justice.
Hence CBP (Customs and Border Protection) and ICE. But CNMI federalization was only minimum wage and immigration -- not customs.
Guam and the CNMI still control their own customs. There has been been no change at all on that score, though if HA! and Tina! have their way, this might be the next to be federalized.
I'm sure the mistake about Customs wasn't intentional, but it illustrates the sort of misunderstanding upon which Bitter Ed Propst and Smart Glen Hunter have been basing their hateful anti-Fitial propaganda that imputes racism and greed to Ben and Eloy's visionary protection of our citizenry and economy, to the greatest extent possible.
It is ultimately the anti-Fitialites who are racist, demeaning the 95.5% of the world who are not U.S. citizens as if there were something inhumane about any of them returning home.
Such cultural and nativistic racism and chauvinism.
Shame, shame, on American soil!
if ben f. has his way, a certain m. grey will be the lucky bugger to land that special contract with u.s. customs and border patrol and ice.
and maybe his otha-brotha-from- anotha-motha, j. manglona will be lucky enough to lease his defective should-be-condemned warehouse to the feds!
earth to uncle ben, earth to uncle ben: don't you know that sole source contracts to your buddies are a lot harder to get away with when the feds are involved?
"shame, shame on american soil" -- couldn't agree more. i'm ashamed alright -- ashamed of this administration. nov. 7 can't come fast enough. lordy lord, please get us through these next couple weeks.
Where is Mel Grey anyway?
Question for 10:06
If U.S. Customs will have no jurisdiction here, why have they been visiting the CNMI conducting facility inspections and meeting with government officials like CPA the legislature, and so on? Seems like a waste of time if they're not gonna actually do anything.
1. A new governor
2. A new lieutenant governor who is neither a convicted felon nor the replacement of the convicted felon
3. A new senior policy advisor
4. A new public lands secretary
5. A new public information officer
6. Siemer and Willens dismissed, along with their junky lawsuit
7. A new secretary of health
8. New immigration officials
9. A new DCCA secretary
10. A new mayor
11. New legislators
12. New LB director
13. New commissioner for public safety
14. New secretary of public works
Please add to this wishlist! O the times they are a'changin... That first breath of fresh air will come on November 7. I can hardly wait.
This is to Bitter Ed:
Please read today's Variety on the Legislature Spending Spree. Note that your candidates are one of the Top Ten Spenders.
Bitter Ed + STM = OBN
Poor bitter ed probst. Does the US know that their 100% funded is campaining during working hours. Dont worry ed we sent an email letting them know.
Poops!
In answer to your question, as I mentioned at 10:06, U.S. Customs and U.S. Immigration were merged in March 2003 for efficiency into bureaus of Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) (no customs component).
So when our local media report visits here by U.S. "Customs," it is actually CBP and ICE concerned about Border Protection and Immigration Enforcement.
Customs and Customs Enforcement will continue to be a local responsibility, though the feds will contine to work closely with the CNMI in most other spheres of law enforcement.
Except for DEA, of course, when the Guam-based soon to be former Resident Agent in Charge disregarded the usual intergovernmental protocols and strip-searched or otherwise intrusively inspected an entire plane -- an inaugural flight, at that!
* as in most other spheres ...
Where is Mel Grey?
And is it true that he will be the new private contractor for CBP?
Hahaha. There was no "strip search" only the kind of patdown they give you in Japan on the way to Nagoya from NRT.
And the DEA guy in Guam isn't going anywhere. Fitial lied his ass off at the debate!
Good to see Ramon Mafnas and Charlie Reyes and all the asslicking toilet hounds of the Ben Tan administration spinning lies on the blogs.
The Covenant crooks are worried they will be out of a job come November. Sorry but Ben Tan is going to go bye bye and we hope the feds will put him in a nice jail next to his best friend Jack Abramoff.
Instructions on how to be a Fitialite:
1. Lose values and morales.
2. Bend Ben Tan over.
3. Lick his ass.
4. Repeat.
P.S. Never argue against Ben Tan or his master Willie Tan. The goal is to change the name of Saipan to SaiTan as soon as possible.
Ben Tan sold his people out to Willie Tan. In the process they got addicted to cheap labor, poker, prostitutes, ice, and corruption.
If you want more bitter times, bota si Ben Tan, Willie Tan's puppet.
Is it just me or is the Covenant leadership a really angry bunch of people? Defensive... insecure ... major chips on the shoulder... belligerent ... irrational ...
these are all the impressions I have of the Governor - his cabinet - party leaders - and candidates.
Even people who have gone into this administration with the best of intentions have come out tainted and bitter. The truly good ones have quit or retired to save their sanity (and integrity).
how come the newspapers haven't reported his whereabouts? is he with immigration or not? does anyone else question the fact that the cnmi immigration director has been completely silent and actually disappeared in the weeks leading up to federalization day, november 28? WTH???
Why not call Immigration and ask for him?
9:44, I did call! He's been on leave for a long long time. And no one seems to know where he is or when he might be back. It's really strange.
Seems typical of this administration. You get Ben angry you disappear.
so why is bitter ed still around?
Looks like the DHS Regulations on Guest Workers got released (Unheard no more blog). I had a feeling this so called umbrella permit wasn't goint to mean jack!
It had no credibility other then trying to gain the vote of the business community, DHS doesn't give a crap about any umbrella. When the feds take over immigration they are going to tell the admin to shove the umbrella up their asses and open it. Those with real ligitamite labor permits can will be eligible for their permits(CW-1 /2 )provided they are legally employeed now by legitimate businesses. Employers of quest workers will have to apply for what is called CW-1 the the CNMI labor permit becomes a mute issue.
Well, the CW-1 costs $550 all-in versus $350 for the CNMI entry permit, so the latter is a better deal.
Unless you want a visa so as to be able to visit home sometime during the validity of your entry permit.
Or if you want to bring your spouse and minor kids here with a CW-2 visa, in which case you'll need the CW-1 permit first.
Mel Grey is on unpaid leave caring for his ailing father in the mainland.
I thought his father died after he removed his mask in Retun of the Jedi.
No wait, maybe it was Mel who was wearing the mask. or was he the Emperor?

Guess glen hunter had to get a new blog site after being identified as the Plato blogger eh?
Truth Reorter? Spin, respin and try to keep Tina in. (Or try to keep it in Tina as the case might be).
HA HA HA
Governor Fitial and Lt. Governor Inos would not approve the second paragraph of the foregoing comment. Smart Glen and Bitter Ed are most likely well-intentioned, albeit misguided.
Let's take the high road, shall we, and refrain from rude personal attacks? After all, Ed may be the next CNMI Public Information Officer in four or five years. HA!
Ben and Eloy's critics do include crude anti-business racists. See the comment two posts up.
Thank goodness Ben and Eloy are committed to growing our economy, even in tough times, and to the traditional local values of respect, tolerance, and hospitality.
Bota Covenant.
God help us all....on Nov 7...... as were all very fucked..no matter who gets in.
Even Tina?! HA!
Dear Ben Tan,
How is your campaign? Let me know if you need more money because I made 2 billion dollars from garment and poker. I heard you did bad at the debates and couldn't answer any of the questions and sounded like a retard but don't worry because nobody listens to the debates. Keep hiring more people and giving out more government jobs and you will continue to grow. Good move in giving $1 billion to Tinian to buy votes. MPLT is all Covenant so no problem.
I love the CNMI because they are easy to manipulate. Keep up the good work.
Love,
Master Willie Tan
The ugly anti-business racism of Bitter Ed, Smart Glen, and Tina Sablan resurfaces yet again.
Change? HA!
Same old, same old.
Huh??
Why do u always think its Ed Glen, and tina, posting negative comments about the governor? Do u really think no one else will say anything bad about fitial?I know u support him and whatever thats ur choice but u should know there are a lot of people who want him out.they might take jobs from him or favors or whatever but on november 7 they will vote for anyone but him.
That's what's great about the secret ballot. People can vote their consciences in the privacy of the voting booth, free from the peer pressure and gross vulgarity urging us to reject a humble public servant.
There will be an answer.
Ummmmm................................................................
I do not see any "humble public servants" on the ballot this year. Which election are you voting in, 12:12?
Secret ballot? Shit..it is so easy to find out who one voted for on this island and the other two breakaway republics.
A few beers.. some fried chicken...
hey... prim can you help me?
Secret ballot give me a break!
5:24pm
The ballot that contains the name "Christina Sablan" on it.
Which election are you voting in 5:24?
Well, if you're that cynical, don't vote.
Let the supporters of proven experience do their thing.
The best way to avoid a run-off is to vote for Ben and Eloy.
There will be an answer.
Proven experience at running a ship into a reef? The best way to avoid the continued decline of these islands is to stop voting for garbage politicians whose ineptitudes are only barely surpassed by the morons they hire to pretend they no what they're doing.
"proven experience"? what a joke! a horrible experience that's for sure. more bitter times? no way jose!
Someone had a great Ray Mafnas costume on at the Bota Bud block party tonight. It was a tiny penis double-taped to his head. Melvin Faesao was also represented by a dude in diapers sucking on a pacifier. Someone was walking around with a candle. I'm not sure if that was the Tony Muna costume or not?
So there's a multitude of highly qualified department heads waiting in the wings waiting to work for uncompetitive wages?
Some people would complain about anything, others take resolute action.
A perfect example is the Unity Marchers who were betrayed by Wendy, Tina, and Jim Benedetto -- now forced to take shelter under Ben's umbrella.
He was right all along that removing our local control of wages and immigration would send us back to the economies of the Marshalls, FSM, and Palau -- our former TTPI compatriots.
Speaking words of wisdom, let it BE!
1:17,
I used to love that song. Now I hate it. Leave it to the Covenant Party to distort and corrupt the meaning of things like:
1. "qualified"
2. "ethics"
3. "accountability"
4. "transparency"
5. "allergic to lawsuits"
6. "i care about the plight of foreign workers"
7. "the Covenant"
8. "the Constitution"
9. "self-government"
10. "economic recovery"
11. "pro-business"
12. "checks and balances"
13. "emergency"
14. "experience"
15. "proven track record"
16. "competence"
17. "humble"
18. "public servant"
19. "respect"
20. "leadership"
21. "once a friend, always a friend"
22. "integrity"
23. "rule of law"
24. "legal infrastructure"
25. "truth"
26. "public information office"
27. "fair bidding"
28. "policy advisor"
29. "investor"
30. "governor"
Or maybe it is you who does not fully understand the meaning of the terms?
There will be an answer.
Yes, there will be an answer but like it or not, it won't come from Sergeant Benigno's Aging Farts Club band.
We hope you will enjoy the show.
*Themed jabs are fun
When I find myself in times of trouble, Heinz and Arnold come to me,
speaking words of wisdom, Heinz will be...
And come November 7th they are marked on the ballot in front of me,
Saving the CNMI, Heinz will be governor.
Let him be, let him be, let him be, let him be.
Whisper words of wisdom, Heinz will be governor!
And when the broken hearted people living in the CNMI agree,
there will be an answer, Heinz will be.
For though we are all battered there is still a chance that we’ll be free,
there will be an answer. Heinz will be goernor.
Let him be, let him be, .....
And when November 7th comes there is still a light, that shines on us,
shine until tomorrow, Heinz will be.
I wake up to the sound of music, CEC comes to me via MCV,
speaking words of wisdom, Heinz it is! Heinz is governor. Heinz is governor.
Let him be, let him be, .....
Fitia is long gone… until his federal trial for acts of corruption.
Heinz is the governor. Fitial will do time.
Let him do time. Let him do time. Let Fitial do time.
And all his political hires will cease to be. Set them free. Set them free.
i take it that since you pasted this comment on every string that you feel proud of your little act of cleverness.
it's just like you bringing home the new picture you colored at school to show mommy and the whole family.
aw, how sweet
non 10:17am:
Maybe if you followed the threads on all of these posts you would come to a different conclusion. I would think after reading them all that the guy/gal that posted the revamped lyrics to the Beatles classic was sick to his stomach of the other posters who have been bastardizing the lyrics in attempt to secure support for the lame duck governor. That is just my guess. I mean I can only take so many "Let it BE"s myself from Fitial and his cabinet members and AGs.
Noni 9:54am,
Good job. Hopefully the "Let it BE" fan club will take their watercolor posters and hang them in their rooms now.
Under "the cover of ben's umbrella"?
WHAT A FARCE!
That's why Filipino's were all over the island passing out "Vote for Tina" brochures that they produced right?
Is this the same "umbrella" that lobbied against any special status for long time workers?
Is this the same "umbrella" that called Filipinos who were voicing their concerns outside of the hearings "illegals" and further stated they'd be "dealing" with them?
Is this the same "umbrella" that wouldn't support Tina's 5 YEAR PERMIT BILL, not an 11th hour 2 year, that was the product of a mix of zero planning and racism?
You guys are a joke. You'll soon see how many realize that.
Fuck Fitial. Let that rat bastard rot in jail. There will be an answer. It is called JAILTIME!
9:54, I wanna thank you for reclaiming that song for me. It's a great song.
Anyone see the new billboards that popped up on As Terlaje road? I loved them! I normally block billboard crap out, but whoever put up those little signs was a genius... and now I want to put those signs up all over the island.
"DON'T BE fooled again!"
"Remember November 7"
There will be an answer... let Heinz be governor!
Well we've found ourselves in times of trouble
and Fitial has brought us down
Breaking all his promises
Bitter End
Bitter End
And in our many hours of
darkness knowing that
CUC will rob us blind
Fitial has lied to us
Bitter End
Bitter End
Bitter End, Bitter End, Bitter End, Bitter End
Vote Ben out and breathe again
Let this end, let this end.
And when the suffering people
living in the CNMI agree
to vote Ben out and breathe again, they will see, democracy
For though they may be silent
Fearing repercussions and
losing jobs,
there will be an answer
Bitter End,
Bitter End
And when the night is cloudy, there is still a light, that shines on us,
a new leader in January,
let it be.
There will be an answer,
let it be.
The let it be heinz for gov song is getting creepy
Please tell us all... why does juanpan anbd benfitial have a bio/resume on their website but Heinz and Arnold dont? This really concerns me. Is he really really humble?
Tita Wendy,
Please save us from the feds....
Did Heinz graduate from college?
Yes, he went to a small school
Hobbit U.
Hobbit U.
dear noni 9:29,
like you i am looking for a humble candidate and what i know is that is truly humbling to run against a man who has held seven presidencies with tan holdings in just nine years.
boy its hard to compete against that. i sure hope ben is humble.
when faced with sheer incompetence in his administration
he will humbly declare an emergency so he can humbly sole source a bunch of contracts to buddies like jonny fong and joe ada
and humbly flush the hospital or cuc or what-have-you
straight down the humble crapper--
SO humble
he can just humbly ignore things like checks and balances, the constitution, the law, the legislature
and his humble yes-men just grin and nod along and cross their fingers til next payday and hope their undeserved yet humble contracts get renewed
The haters persist in their misplaced attacks based upon imputed motives that say more about themselves than the target of their anger.
The CNMI's failure to reelect an incumbent since 1985 is what has gotten us into this mess, particularly important since Ben is the best of the bunch.
Even more critically, Ben and Eloy are proven leaders and managers in the private sector, not mere political dreamers.
The vengeful bloggers must do their best to be objective and raise the level of civic discourse.
There still a chance that they may see.
GB,
you said "The CNMI's failure to reelect an incumbent since 1985 is what has gotten us into this mess, "
NOT TRUE. What got us into this mess was poor choices on the ballots and bad decisions as voters coupled with bad appointments by the current governor and government corruption and special interests.
There will be and answer. That answer is Heinz!
you said: " Ben and Eloy are proven leaders and managers in the private sector,"
NOT TRUE. A proven leader in the business sector is someone that does not buy their way into become president of 7 TAN OWNED corporations in 9 years by selling out the CNMI while he was in public office. Nice try.
Fitial is not a proven business leader. He proved that he has held figurehead presidency positions after he did political favors for TAN.
Looks like your bubble just popped :-)
You never should have pointed us at Ben's Bio. What a field day we are all having.
You think Fitial will give you a job at a Tan company once he is booted out?
Heinz shaves the tops of his feet and hands.
Heinz was a great candidate in 2005 and will be equally ready to take up the reins of leadership in 2013 (just like Babauta and Fitial had to wait their turn).
What we need right now is proven leadership who have solved real problems (fixed CUC power outages caused by decades of deferred maintenance; reduced NMIRF unfunded liability by $1 billion), understand economics, and have proven business experience.
Hint: Real, profit-making businesses do not keep figureheads on the payroll for nine years.
Heinz is a good man who will make an excellent governor some day.
Right now we need to change our dysfunctional political culture by re-electing a team that's been working for us, humbly serving the people even in the face of blogger opprobium and vicious personal attacks.
Thank you Ben and Eloy!
Umbrellas for all!
And thank you, Heinz and Arnold for reinvigorating the Republican Party after the corruption of the Babauta Administration, so the people will be behind you in 2013!
Godspeed!
* opprobrium
You said: "Real, profit-making businesses do not keep figureheads on the payroll for nine years."
He was actually only president of those companies for a total of 3 years off and on. What can you say now?
Yes it was repayment for the deals he made when he was int he Legislature.
Nice try, Baka!
Godspeed Fitial outta office!
Godspeed!
And take your cronies with ya!
Do we got enough pink slips to dole out in January for all these guys?

Highlighting the Northern Marianas Islands in total shame and disgrace intensified when Ben Fitial became Governor.
He has operated the CNMI like a Czar. noni 2 uo (Repulics falls) hit the nail on the head so I will not repeat the salient points.
He has managed with bribery, corruption, intimidation, and fear through scare tactics.
One thing we can be certain of, and that is if he wins again, the commonwealth will worsen and the impoverished people will suffer more than they already have endured.
The blogs, news stories, national, and intenational reports of shameful antics from the CNMI will worsen as well. His regime has already tainted the reputations of the people here for the last generation.
Students here don't care anymore. They want to leave here ASAP, and while I suspected economics, local students want to distance themselves from "our island" for other reasons, and it is not the reasons we might suspect.
Electing Ben Fitial could make for a real comedy show here though, because when the twenty or so felons continue to cooperate with the government. I suspect law enforcement will handcuff Ben and friends for conspiring to and covering up the plot to block federaliztion of the cNMI by paying Jack Abramoff a fortune to bribe the uS House of Representatives.
We locked up Tim and got Eloy, when we lock up Ben, who will the A team give us next?
Who made any sort of assertion about presidencies on these blogs? There are figureheads at all levels.
This sort of blog commentary "debate" inspires confidence in "change"?
HA!
Ben has cleaned up more corruption than any Governor in CNMI history.
It is the so-called change advocates who are providing the smoke-screen for malfeasance.
The students have a better understanding of the consquences of federalization than Tita Wendy and Labor Ron.
Ben has been the most corrupt Governor in CNMI history.
Ben has been the most corrupt Governor in CNMI history.
Ben has been the most corrupt Governor in CNMI history.
Fight the politics of hate and envy.
No other CNMI administration has turned over its own wrong-doers to the FBI.
If Ben Fitial had even done so much as THINK of violating a law, the Feds would have pounced!
Ben is the cleanest governor in CNMI history.
Bota Ben and Eloy!
Remember last year, the Feds filed an indictment against Alaska's Uncle Ted Stevens, shortly before the election -- which he lost as a consequence?
Have you read all the allegations in these blogs by Bitter Ed, Smart Glen, tarkle, and their ilk, making all kinds of allegations of corruption, kickbacks, and impropriety?
Where are the indictments? These malicious, politically-motivated rumors have been circulating for years, giving the Feds ample time to investigate.
Well?
They are all hot air, exhaled by the likes of the man who wants to be the next PIO under HA!
The Feds have found not a whiff of wrongdoing by Ben. Their silence speaks volumes.
Ben and Eloy have the "Federal Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval."
Bota Covenant!
It's a big enough umbrella, but it's always Glen who ends up getting wet!
you said:"No other CNMI administration has turned over its own wrong-doers to the FBI."
You got one thing right. ITS OWN WRONGDOERS.
The OPA which is NOT Fitials (although he wished it was with all of his emergency declarations) turned in Tim. The only person that believes anyone else did is the former acting AG. But he was way off.
you said "The Feds have found not a whiff of wrongdoing by Ben. Their silence speaks volumes."
you sound very very scared. you should be. did you aid fitial? i think you did.
yep. they are coming after you.
you say that it is silent. yep. as silent as it was before tim was nabbed. as silent as it was before joyners son was nabbed. as silent as it was before reksid was nabbed. as silent as it was before the governors driver was nabbed.
BAM. when you least expect it... GOTCHA FITIAL.
orange suit... one way ticket... bye bye
Is it true that the Governor hid away and has somehow used over $17 million in Cover-over funds that were secured by a settlement he asked the former AG to negotiate?
Is this true?
i almost passed out!
"Ben is the cleanest governor in CNMI history."
LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL
even if that were remotely true, that ain't sayin much.
FBI is probably waiting until after the elections?
The OAG turned in Tim. Check the USAO press release.
Noni 12:50am,
you are either a liar or someone that works with the OAG or both.
"The case, which was referred to the Federal Bureau of Investigation by the Office of the Public Auditor, is being handled by O’Malley and First Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeffrey J. Strand." directly from the FBI transmittal after the arrest."
YOU LIAR!
Our AGO probably knew about it though before the Arrest. It took the OPA (THANK GOD FOR THEM) to turn it over to the FBI.
The governor was mad as hell about the OPA turning it over. I was with him at the time and he was livid!
Stop trying to steal credit. You sound as lame as Fitial did trying to steal credit for the health care corporation bill that Heinz drafted.
The only other person that I have heard claim that the OAG turned in Tim is Baka and he was lying too.
http://www.saipantribune.com/newsstory.aspx?cat=1&newsID=82457
Again, read the USAO press release itself -- not the press summary of what a reporer deems important -- final paragraph.
Did the U.S. Attorney lie when he thanked the OAG?
The federal justice system avoids politicizing the justice system. It is gravely unfortunate that the most outspoken supporters of putative "change" candidates seem so unable to comprehend this basic element of American criminal law.
And if candidates attract such misguided supporters, and confide in them with their most sensitive deliberations -- as one very blog-popular senatorial candidate is known to do -- what does that say about such candidates' judgment, discretion, and use of vengefulness as an integral element of their campaigns.
Such "change" is not, not, NOT the direction the CNMI should go.
We need not talk, but action. Proven experience.
Noni 11:56AM,
I am holding the hard copy of the Press Statement. I am also looking through the testimonials and all relevant and accurate accounts. They all indicate clearly that the CNMI Office of the Public Auditor notified the FBI and the Office of the Attorney General. Perhaps the thanks you speak of was a thank you to the AGO for staying out of the way while JUSTICE WAS SERVED.
I gave Ed B a call just to verify and he gave credit to the OPA, Mike specifically. AWESOME! Glad Ed is a bunch better than that Acting guy was.
Action? Get off the blogs and start getting some ACTION done and stop trying to steal credit for things that other had done. Big props to the witnesses that came forward from CUC!
Stop trying to emulate Fitial in stealing Heinz's health care corporation bill.
Fitial is Proven Experience...
PROVEN BAD EXPERIENCE!
I never want to experience that again.
There is an ANSWER - Heinz!
what you see as vengeful other's see as factual. odd how when it hurts you it alters one's point of view.
lol
dummy
here you go baka.
you obviously DID NOT get the memo.
http://www.box.net/shared/static/xd7ovlec63.pdf
LOL LOL LOL
DUMMY!
last paragraph:
The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Eric O’Malley and First Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeff Strand and investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The CNMI Office of the Public Auditor assisted in the investigation.
WOW. NO MENTION OF THE AGO OR OAG :(
You LIE. Stop posting lies here and on Wendy's site!
another good link for you:

EXCERPT:
"How it started
Early this year, a concerned citizen alerted the Office of the Public Auditor (OPA) about a possible corruption case.
With the involvement of federal funds in the alleged anomalous purchases, OPA reported the matter to the FBI. The FBI investigations resulted in subpoenas of CUC and local government officials and records dating back to 1998. Months later, on July 22, a federal grand jury handed down an indictment against Villagomez, Guerrero and the Santos couple, charging them with wire fraud, theft of federal funds and conspiracy charges. The indictment was sealed.
"
WHAT!? NO OAG AGO listed in it?!
TERRIBLE TRY AT STEALING THE THUNDER!
Why should I keep wasting my time posting links to documents that CLEARLY state that TIM's case was referred to the FBI by OPA not AGO/OAG? Let me make it real simple.
Here is a link from BRAD SAND youtube. Right fromt he horse's mouth. The indictment video and the USAO (thats right mister lies above... the USAO themselves) press conference.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9488wZpdgv8&feature=related
WOW! He thanked everyone including the OPA but not the AGO or OAG...
Get out of town and take your Fitial loving clowns with you.
You have just been OWNED! BOOYA!
don't worry noni 11:56am. you were caught in a lie as usual. Fitial will still love you and you will keep your job until January. then it is tata... Burn that fake law degree too, will ya.
that was pathetic of that commenter to try and take credit from the OPA and give it to the AG's Office. I hope that guy doesn't work in the AG's Office. That would be even more pathetic. Almost as pathetic as the Governor trying to take credit for Heinz's health care corporation bill.
PATHETIC!
There is only one CORRECT answer! Heinz for Governor.
That video rocks!
Man, no mention at all about the Attorney General's Office. So sad. I wonder why the guy above was trying to lie about it?
I think it was good that the AGO stepped aside and let justice run its course.
This should silence these Fitial supporters for today at least. Let them scurry around and look for another lie to try and conjure up to attempt to fool voters.
don't BE fooled again!
Remember to vote for ANYONE but Fitial!
OPA deserves the credit, not the AGO. The USA office included the AGO in the press release as a courtesy.
"It is amazing what can be accomplished when no one cares who receives the credit."
This central concept of sound leadership and teamwork is over the heads of those anti-Fitialites who insist on creating false dichotomies.
The denier of the OAG referral to the FBI cites documents referring to the many and indispensable efforts of OPA as "proof" the OAG involvement wasn't acknowledged, didn't happen, or was insignificant.
Such "logic" and wasted electrons strongly suggest that the harshest critics of Ben and Eloy have not a clue about how government truly works and are spinning their wheels trying to push the CNMI in the wrong direction.
Proven Experience.
Vote Covenant.
Getting back to the topic, the Contract Workers' friends and relatives who are considering who to support for governor should consider which is and has been better at promoting jobs and a sound economy.
Ben's local control of labor, with freedom to travel and compassionate Umbrella Permits, or the anti-Fitialites' CW-1 visa (to be applied for abroad) under federalization?
Keep in mind that the language of federalization, Pub. L. 110-229, explicitly calls for the phase-out of ALL guest workers within five years!
This is the federalization law supported by Tina Sablan, Wendy Doromal, and apparently the HA! campaign or at least their most outspoken supporters.
Ben and Eloy are fighting in court to allow our hard-working laborers to continue to live in the CNMI according to the terms under which they have prospered for decades.
Who is the true friend of guest workers? The leader who fights to keep them here, even spending a half million dollars from his official account on their behalf and to preserve our economy, or the federalizers whose "solution" is to phase them out?
Vote Covenant!
noni 8:08am,
"uggest that the harshest critics of Ben and Eloy have not a clue about how government truly works"
we have a clue as to how THIS government, run by Fitial, works.
we do not want to see any more of their bullshit.
bye bye fitial. bye bye you.
you watched the video, you read the press statement and you saw the news clippings and you still try and claim responsibility for tim's indictment. you are beyond pathetic. you are delusional. take your meds.
you will be the sole vote for fitial and your pathetic attempts to keep him in power will have as much impact as his attempts to steal credit for Heinz's bill and yours to steal credit from the OPA.
HEINZ is the CORRECT answer.
Fitial is the answer too... the WRONG answer.
you spun and said: "Ben's local control of labor, with freedom to travel and compassionate Umbrella Permits"
How bout Tina's more humanitarian Foreign Residency Bill? The one the Governor lobbied against. You know, the one that would give them the right to change employers, travel, do what any HUMAN should be able to do.
Oh thats right. Fitial wants slaves that he can control.
Wooo hooo! Gov Ben! Vote for him if you love a good slave!
Vote for everyone else if you are truly compassionate.
---------
You spun: "Keep in mind that the language of federalization, Pub. L. 110-229, explicitly calls for the phase-out of ALL guest workers within five years!"
Lets look at laws why dont we? Keep in mind Gov's and Cinta's Local Labor law (15-108) still says that ALL GUEST WORKERS must leave the cnmi for 6 months every 2 years. Do you remember that? Compassion for long term workers? Stable workforce? Go suck up more gas fumes.
You can bring the number of foreign guest workers to zero in a heartbeat without a shock to Saipan by simply granting them status. The governor only now has changed his mind on this. Little late. He lobbied to remove the status provision from the Federal Bill. TSK TSK TSK. Not a very good leader. Poor long term vision.
Oh well...
Bye bye Fitial and your political puppets.
Cinta, the Governor, Deane and Howard drafted what they all called "a good law". Do you still remember that?
You stated: "Who is the true friend of guest workers? The leader who fights to keep them here,"
Here is are a few of the UNFRIENDLY TO GUEST WORKER sections of Cinta and Fitials PL 15-108. This law is still on the books and was passed by Cinta and Signed by Fitial:
Section 4531 requires 100% hiring of citizens and permanent residents by the CNMI
government as the general rule.
This is the reason CUC let go of the Foreign Engineers and the reason the maintenance was not properly handled. Guest worker friendly? NO
Isn't this same Governor the one that just placed CHC under Emergency so he could violate his own neices bill and hire doctors from the PI. Consistent? NO
_______________-
Section 4953 imposes periodic-exit requirements (six consecutive month absence in
every 42 month period) for foreign national workers that are similar, though not identical, to the
periodic exit requirements of United States law which generally requires a one-year absence after
two consecutive three-year periods.
EVERY guest worker is forced by CINTA and BEN to LEAVE the CNMI for at least 6 months. THIS IS FRIENDLY? NO!
Vote for covenant if you want baka to keep his job.
Vote for Heinz if you give a damn about the children of the CNMI and all of our future.
Baka has a job, and it is not dependent one iota on partisan politics.
Vote your conscience in the secrecy of the ballot booth, not based on fear of the misguided "change" promoters making such comments above.
The proven leadership necessary to rebuild our economy is the best way to help our children.
Do not succumb to the bloggers of hatred and envy.
Bota Covenant!
Cinta is a person who has devoted her life to serving others.
With the revelation of the full consequences of federalization, and its abysmal CW-1 visa treatment of our hard-working contract laborers, the flexibly implemented Public Law 15-108 is looking more and more prescient. Jacinta M. Kaipat is indeed a visionary.
Also, the ability effectively to use the services of legal professionals will serve her in great stead as a Senator.
Cinta is the ONLY senate candidate for whom I plan to vote.
The incompetence of our Legislature is reflected in four special-interest initiatives on the ballot.
Reject them all!
No, I am not stupid. I will not vote for Jacinta "It's a good law" Kaipat!

At the election today, many of the campaigners beyond the 300-foot limit had colorful umbrellas with the logos of the various gubernatorial campaigns. Wouldn't it be great to have one of each?
The Kumoi umbrella will protect you against acid rain and particulate fall-out from burning heavy non-EPA-approved bunker oil or Diesel Fuel, Marine (DFM).
I'll trade you two made-in-P.I. Fitial umbrellas for a Kumoi one.
Have you checked out Judge Wiseman's cap collection from visiting Navy ships? It occupies a whole wall of his chambers!
Never been in his chambers and never want to...
God damn! I wish Baka would stop this immature and mindless "Let it BE!" blogging bullshit and get to work on traffic cases!
WTF!
Did the governor put him there so that the AG would turn a blind eye to the recent vehicular death cases involving pedestrians?
What happened to the one in As Lito? The lady hit and killed a man and then the report changed to the driver being a man and till this day (months later) no name ever came up and no more information was released. What the hell are you doing BAKA? How do you sleep at night covering up for the governor and stealing votes by breaking the law?
What happened to the one in Kagman? The first report said alcohol and speed caused the vehicle to hit and kill that guy. the next report said no charges and blamed the man for not being in a crosswalk. WTF!!! Baka, this is shoddy and shitty work! MCV went to the scene of the accident and revealed that the car had VEERED OFF THE ROAD prior to hitting the man and perhaps caused him to flee into to the road before getting struck and KILLED!!!!!
This governor can hold hands and sing with baka "let it be" all fucking day! the truth is they are both corrupt assholes!!! I hope you dream nightmares of people being KILLED and you two covering shit up for votes!
What of the guy beaten by Fitials son in law at the prison????
BAKA cover-up again?
Baka, go to church and repent and hope to GOD you are forgiven.
Any idea when they are going to deport the overstaying Carolinians?
"The immigration of Carolinians to Saipan began in the early 1800s, after the Spanish reduced the local population of Chamorro natives to just 3,700. They began to immigrate mostly sailing from small canoes from other islands, which a typhoon previously devastated. The Carolinians have a much darker complexion than the native Chamorros."
