Lawmakers exceeding their quarterly discretionary fund allotments. What gives?
What are these funds for and how should they use it? Should the public need to know? What are the recent projects that the community has benefited from these funds so far?
Saipan Tribune reports that "Some lawmakers once again exceeded their quarterly discretionary fund allotments and therefore had to borrow from their colleagues or ask for the reprogramming of at least $9,112 in April to June to cover for budget shortfalls, up from the reprogramming of almost $7,000 in January to March...Each lawmaker was allotted $22,367 in the third quarter of Fiscal Year 2009 or from April to June, lower than the $26,217 allotted during January to March."

Some lawmakers know how to live within their means. Others are just clueless on the concept. Notice that the recipient of the most transfers is not running for reelection. Some members are "donating" taxpayers funds out of the goodness of their hearts. Do you ever read about this type of shenanigan in Rep. Tina Sablan? Heck no! Go Tina!
By not spending her allotment on something good, Tina effectively gives her budget to the central government to spend on something bad.
Like the lawsuit against the Federal government.
Thanks, Tina!
"By not spending her allotment on something good, Tina effectively gives her budget to the central government to spend on something bad."
It would appear than that the problem is not Tina but the central governments waste of funds. Should she in turn waste funds on cell phones, car leases, tables, tents, unnecessary community workers, travel, etc. Is that really a solution? Are you trying to convince the public that it is? Is that the same rationale that the other lawmakers use?
Vote Tina for Senate!
Write-in Glen Hunter for Governor!
Transparency without vindictiveness.
Two of a kind.
Freedom of speech for all (if you agree with us)!
Stalking, harrassment, retaliation, and Facebook de-friending if you don't.
Wow. Their allotment was damned near twice the annual salary of most DPS police officers, firefighters and ambulance crews. Their first quarter allotments were more than double most DPS employee salaries.
And of course the public should know how these allotments are being spent, as it's the public who's funding them. The CNMI public however, being third generation sheep of the same inward looking flock generally supports the CNMI politicians' world view that it's within their god-given divine rights as 'Lawmakers' to receive and waste this money as they please, free of any accountability or oversight.
How come call them 'Lawmakers' anyway? They aren't. They've long ago proven their helplessness in the face of overwhelming challenges, most of which are their own creations. Their best efforts are of the same quality and effectiveness as the pointless, childish rantings that plague local blogs.
Say... speaking of which- is it true that Ed Probst has sold all his belongings in order to make a down payment on the up-for-sale 'Saipan Sucks' website?

The surname of Bitter Ed is Propst, not Probst.
The Saipan Sucks website of William E. Betz, who lost a breach of contract case against the CNMI OAG, is still up and running.
So no, g00$e, your rumor about Bitter Ed is not true.
The wailing and gnashing over the trivial sums spent, squandered, lovingly used to nurture good governance, spent on crack (pick one) are much overblown. US 'lawmakers' even those without a vote like Kilili spend Millions each on the same kind of porkpie, not thousands like here in paradise.
The answer to all our woes does not come from our legislators sitting on the floor in their offices, crosslegged ooommmmmming until the true light hits them.
Spending those paltry funds imaginatively to help improve life for the constituency that hired you sounds like the right thing to do.
Doing nothing with it, like Rep Sablan doesn't make any points with me, nor should it you. She should have given the money to Angelo, at least he would have planted some trees, or picked up a dead dog...or something. I don't think he would have given it back to the general fund like Sablan did.
Angelo for Imperial Galactic Leader.
i guess "trivial sums" is a relative term.
when your total government budget has shriveled down to less than half of what it was ten years ago,
and the one public hospital is collapsing and people are literally dying while they wait for diagnostic tests, doctors to see them, and medical referrals to get approved,
and the retirement fund is about to go broke,
and citizens are still waiting for their tens of millions of dollars in judgment awards to actually get paid,
and cuc is facing costly stipulated orders, potential epa fines, coast guard fines, puc fines, and a cda debt that we all pretended could be converted into stocks,
and cpa is about to default on its bonds,
and schools are still fundraising for toilet paper while students learn in storage rooms turned into classrooms,
and dozens, perhaps hundreds, of government vendors are still waiting to get paid,
then --
$100K-155K per legislator (29 members),
plus $175K-$400K for presiding officers in each chamber (2 chambers),
to spend as they please on baseball teams, congratulatory advertisements, vehicle leases, political hires, tables and tents, donations of drinks, junkets, gifts for their employees to "improve morale", "official representation" and entertainment expenses, subsistence allowances, and community workers to pick up trash and dead dogs and generally duplicate the functions and mandates of existing government agencies,
seems a bit excessive.
just because u.s. congress wastes taxpayer money doesn't mean cnmi congress should too.
and the central govt having way too much leeway to abuse public funds is a bad excuse for legislators having leeway to do the same.
come on. we can do better than that.

"Transparency without vindictiveness."
with glen? ha! you've got to be kidding. yes to tina, no to glen.
too bad glen doesn't know how to say no to the ladies who aren't named tina.
Could Saipan Middle Road please remove the two inadvertent duplicate posts in this thread?
Actually the Saipan Sucks web site is for sale, at Garagesale.saipan.com no less.
I see the reality of tina's unused funds going back to the general fund. Horrible to realize that the better part of her campaign ensures the bad side obtains the money and even more obscene to hear her critized for not working the system. Sign me appalled with two "ll"s.
I really don't understand how people expect things to get better. They rationalize individual lawmakers taking $150K of taxpayer money and using it as they personally see fit with no accountability what-so-ever by saying that if they didn't spend it all it would revert to the general fund where the Government as a whole would waste it.
How about dealing with the root of the problem then - the waste of government funds.
I can't imagine people okaying thievery as long as the person who was the victim of the robbery was a well know alcoholic who would have just wasted it on alcohol.
C'mon people.
And I cant' understand the supposed virtue of a person who won't or can't figure a way to spend those funds appropriated directly for her to use in a way that will benefit her constituents. If she is truly that lame, she has no business in the House of Representatives. Does that mean that all such funds expended by every representative are well spent? No, but it does mean that if she is as committed as she claims she would put her brain to work finding a positive way to use those funds instead of the grandstand play to claim she is some kind of pathetic monk who has vowed never to touch the filthy money of power. A bit of a contradiction from a person who spends most of every day spending others people's money.
Pure fantasy. No wonder her current constituents would not reelect her on a bet. Thus the run for the senate.
All talk and blather. Only the dimwitted will buy this piece of political public relations BS. "Oh I'm a fiscal celibate!"- (arms waving akimbo).Psssssgggg
Heinz overspent his discretionary funds that most of the legislators has dole out to him. In essence, if elected as governor he will dip his hands in every accounts of all branches of government if he runs out of funds in running the government. It already show he will be incompetent in having a balanced budget.
Noni 5:53PM:
I hope to god you never run for office.
If there is one thing we can learn from Rep. Tina Sablan it is certainly using public funds wisely and responsibly. She would be the ultimate minority in the den of those in the Senate. Frica tried. Now she is a burnt out shell of herself. We hope Tina wins but pray for her success.
Hey Noni 5:53 PM:
You are spot on! How insane has she been? And all just to grandstand. She is not really fiscally responsible. What a farce! I mean what has it been like two years? Only spent $700? That doesn't prove anything. She is just a showboater. Just waving her hands in the air. She isn't really fiscally concious. She is just like the rest. She is just using this "I won't touch my discretionary fund unless I really NEED TO" as a campaign bullet point. You caught her.
I mean at the heart of it all she is just like the rest of politicians on the hill. Right? So what if she ran a full fledge campaign against ___ other Representative hopefuls in 2007 and spent only $500. So what if she has never voted yes to the myriad of miscellaneous appropriations bills that the House has passed (you remember for the needed baseball fields, fishing derbies, private road pavings and other stuff while our PSS was hemorrhaging, our CUC collapsing and our CHC dying).
So what!
Thats all just a show!
Well guess what, Noni 5:53 PM?
I like that damn show!
Boo to you Noni 5:53 PM! Boo to you!
It is gravely unfortunate that Tina Sablan relies upon such narcissistic advisors, the most vindictive and vicious of whom is Glen Hunter. He has a congenital inability to accept correction cheerfully and listen respectfully to the views of others. He is "all-knowing."
Transparency? HA!
"Not using" her discretionary legislative funds? Not even on self-promoting pet projects? Great. Thrifty. Fiscally prudent.
So where did that money go? Back into the General Fund, where it could be used to pay for almost 1/3 of the Covenant Section 903 lawsuit!
Why not instead donate it to the Retirement Fund? Or Scholarship Fund, like Pete Reyes with his double dipping salary?
Maybe because it wasn't Glen's idea? It is disturbing that Tina relies so heavily on such a proud and sadistic individual. Her supporters are worse than Fitial's.
Is this what we want in the CNMI Senate? Nixonian dirty tricks?
No, thank you.
don't be so hard on noni 5:53 pm. he makes total sense.
i mean why stop at the $150K discretionary funds per lawmaker. as he said that he understand why she "can't figure a way to spend those funds appropriated directly for her to use in a way that will benefit her constituents."
lets use his logic, why don't we?
he is evidently very confident in the ability of the members of the legislature to distribute any amount of discretionary funds properly (or at least better than a budget would have those funds allocated). so that being said, lets not even create a budget. lets just divide up the whole project revenues for our government by 29 and give each lawmaker an equal share. right?
each lawmaker can then dole it out, responsibly of course (with a bit of waste here and there maybe). why allow any funds to go into the black hole that is the general fund?
each lawmaker can sit in their office and spend the whole of their terms entertaining requests for funds from private individuals, businesses, colleagues and now other government agencies and departments.
if PSS needs funds they can go sit down with Joe or Arnold or Pete and make a personal request. if that lawmaker feels that the request is worthy he can decide how much if any to give PSS. if he says declines to give any of his 5 million in funds to PSS then PSS can go sit down with Tina, Heinz, Rosemond or Ray. if they all decide that PSS is a great thing and they throw a million each at PSS than PSS lucks out and they walk away with 29 million in that one request.
CUC can send a person to solicit (whoops i mean ask for funds... solicitation is not allowed in the legislature). and the same thing can ensue.
no need for budgeting. no need for accountability. no need for oversight. no need for communication. no need for common sense. right?
great thinking noni 5:53pm! NOT!
you are so brainwashed and and ingrained into the system that we have now that even when someone comes along and attempts to try and fix it you attack them for doing so.
are you really mad that Tina didn't spend but $700 of her discretionary funds (in a sense keeping the CNMI from ending '08 with a deficit of $90K? or are you just trying to justify yourself or your friends on the hill who have spent all of their funds and then some?
You Said: "Back into the General Fund, where it could be used to pay for almost 1/3 of the Covenant Section 903 lawsuit!"
It appears your problem is with the Governor funding the lawsuit. Address your anger towards him. Not towards Tina.
You said:"Why not instead donate it to the Retirement Fund? Or Scholarship Fund, like Pete Reyes with his double dipping salary? "
So your issue here is that these two areas are under budgeted? If that is the case make your argument there. Why rely on individual lawmakers to BYPASS the one duty they are constitutionally mandated to do - PASS A BALANCED BUDGET! You would rather rely on the integrity of each indivdual lawmaker to properly dole out the funds to those and other programs?
Also, Pete should not even be able to state where his salary goes. Because he is retired and collecting his retirement he technically doesn't receive a salary. That would be double dipping. In this case he is illegally receiving it and then giving it to PSS. Not right. That money doesn't go to him. If he wasts to be know for giving to PSS he should use his own funds not money that can not ever legally belong to him (NO DOUBLE DIPPING).
You said: "Her supporters are worse than Fitial's."
I don't know who you support and I don't care but you are incredibly upset about other things and displacing it on Tina. Get over whatever it is that is bothering you or just keep to yourself till you calm down.
Step back. Breathe. Breathe. Inhale. Exhale. Wheeew.
Glen Hunter said . . .

Why not both?
If Rep. Sablan had "donated" her discretionary funds to the Retirement Fund rather than letting them lapse into the general fund, it is really no different than the decisions of individual taxpayers to direct up to $5,000 of their taxes to the public or private school of their choice through the Education Tax Credit.
Not everyone who disagrees with you, Glen, is your "enemy." Not even those you have maltreated or who try to "discipline" you. Some people just want to see you use your tremendous intelligence wisely and humanely, and learn a little humility and respect for your fellow human beings -- even if we are not as smart as you.
MVA's resident hermaphrodite must still be all distraught over the collapse of the bar. Casino work provided him a temporary safety net. The outlandish accusations are ripping large gashes in that net. He'll fall on through soon enough.
I was wrong. You are displacing your anger on Glen not Tina.
It doesn't matter how smart Glen is or how much you want so badly to "discipline" him (Rawrrr! ;-) ), your logic still holds no water.

Sablan had "donated" her discretionary funds to the Retirement Fund rather than letting them lapse into the general fund, it is really no different than the decisions of individual taxpayers to direct up to $5,000 of their taxes to the public or private school of their choice through the Education Tax Credit."
Tina can opt to do the ETC with her OWN income and avail of the tax credit. Nothing is stopping that. Reyes can donate his OWN paycheck or a portion thereof to PSS. Nothing stopping that either. But stating that lawmakers having full discretion of spending $150K wherever they so choose with out any type of budgetary oversight or accountability is better than proper budgeting of the general funds is asinine. (multiply that by 29 for each of those wise men).
Come on, Zal... errr... uhmm... I mean ... whoever you are. I don't know who you are but I don't have as much faith in our representatives to personally and without accountability disperse those funds to the needed agencies. I would rather focus on the root cause of the problem you so wisely pointed out - a broken budgetary system and a government that is allowed to waste general funds that come from taxpayer money. A system that has been so damaged that when a legislator tries to remedy it by setting a great example and putting faith back into the systems that should operate accordingly and calling on the public to hold their representatives accountable, it is her that is chastised while the other representatives drive off unscathed in their leased SUVs.
Wow! What logic. Hang in there Tina. There will, as you have always known, be a few that defy logic in order to maintain the status quo. The same status quo that has brought the CNMI to the point we are at today.
Glen Hunter said . . .

Oh, my! But I never made that "straw man" argument. Of course improved budgeting is better.
Yet given the current system of $150,000 for each legislator, what is the best approach? Let it lapse into the general fund, or donate it to a needy agency like the Retirement Fund retiree account?
I'm not saying this is the decisive issue for me as to whether or not I'll vote for Tina. It's not.
What I am saying is that YOUR inability to ever concede a "mistake" by yourself or her, or even admit that someone else's ideas might have some merit, is reducing your own credibility on issues where you are correct. And indirectly some of that may rub off on her.
I am not angry in the slightest. To get or remain angry at someone is to give that person power over you. I do not choose to give anyone such control over my life.
I do occasionally get irritated at your rudeness and lack of respect for others, but that quickly passes as I turn my attention to more important things.
As for your online argumentation on the issues or about other people, your major shortcoming is a tendency to jump to conclusions -- as to facts underlying your policy views, and as to acts or motivations of people you choose to excoriate.
For example, Ben Fitial, while surrounded by his share of sycophants (Saipan seems to be awash in them) actually brooks a more robust internal debate on policy matters than most other CNMI leaders. Change can come from within or without. Neither has a monopoly on truth, hurtful or otherwise.
I respect the honesty and integrity of Ben Fitial, Cinta Kaipat, Tina Sablan, and Angelo Villagomez, all of whom I am leaning toward voting for.
But if you engage in too many dirty tricks on Tina's behalf, maybe I'll just vote for one senator.
Not that I really give a sh**, but joaquina santos has finally found a hotel - Dublin, california

End of the BART line.
Tina Sablan is the new Stanley Torres.
He ran for Senate, too.
I wrote this as the voice of Socrates. Perhaps today I shall pen it for me.
How you have felt, O men of Athens, at hearing the speeches of my accusers, I cannot tell; but I know that their persuasive words almost made me forget who I was - such was the effect of them; and yet they have hardly spoken a word of truth. But many as their falsehoods were, there was one of them which quite amazed me; - I mean when they told you to be upon your guard, and not to let yourselves be deceived by the force of my eloquence. They ought to have been ashamed of saying this, because they were sure to be detected as soon as I opened my lips and displayed my deficiency; they certainly did appear to be most shameless in saying this, unless by the force of eloquence they mean the force of truth; for then I do indeed admit that I am eloquent. But in how different a way from theirs! Well, as I was saying, they have hardly uttered a word, or not more than a word, of truth; but you shall hear from me the whole truth: not, however, delivered after their manner, in a set oration duly ornamented with words and phrases. No indeed! but I shall use the words and arguments which occur to me at the moment; for I am certain that this is right, and that at my time of life I ought not to be appearing before you, O men of Athens, in the character of a juvenile orator - let no one expect this of me. And I must beg of you to grant me one favor, which is this - If you hear me using the same words in my defence which I have been in the habit of using, and which most of you may have heard in the agora, and at the tables of the money-changers, or anywhere else, I would ask you not to be surprised at this, and not to interrupt me. For I am more than seventy years of age, and this is the first time that I have ever appeared in a court of law, and I am quite a stranger to the ways of the place; and therefore I would have you regard me as if I were really a stranger, whom you would excuse if he spoke in his native tongue, and after the fashion of his country; - that I think is not an unfair request. Never mind the manner, which may or may not be good; but think only of the justice of my cause, and give heed to that: let the judge decide justly and the speaker speak truly.
...Men of Athens, this reputation of mine has come of a certain sort of wisdom which I possess. If you ask me what kind of wisdom, I reply, such wisdom as is attainable by man, for to that extent I am inclined to believe that I am wise; whereas the persons of whom I was speaking have a superhuman wisdom, which I may fail to describe, because I have it not myself; and he who says that I have, speaks falsely, and is taking away my character.
And now, O men who have condemned me, I would fain prophesy to you; for I am about to die, and that is the hour in which men are gifted with prophetic power. And I prophesy to you who are my murderers, that immediately after my death punishment far heavier than you have inflicted on me will surely await you. Me you have killed because you wanted to escape the accuser, and not to give an account of your lives. But that will not be as you suppose: far otherwise. For I say that there will be more accusers of you than there are now; accusers whom hitherto I have restrained: and as they are younger they will be more severe with you, and you will be more offended at them. For if you think that by killing men you can avoid the accuser censuring your lives, you are mistaken; that is not a way of escape which is either possible or honorable; the easiest and noblest way is not to be crushing others, but to be improving yourselves. This is the prophecy which I utter before my departure, to the judges who have condemned me.
It appears that I the student have grown to be my teacher.
He lived during a time when attention was turning away from the physical world (of the heavens) and toward the human world (of the self, the community, and the law). He participated in this turning point by walking the streets of Athens, engaging people-including rulers who were supposed to be wiser than he-in conversation. In these conversations, he employed what came to be known as the "Socratic method" or dialectic, a series of seemingly simple questions designed to elicit a rational response. Through the line of questioning, which usually centered around a moral concept such as courage, the person being questioned was intended to realize that he did not truly know that which he thought he knew. Socrates's theory was that once the person being questioned realized his weak understanding, he could divest himself of false notions, and was then free to participate in the quest for knowledge. These philosophical "disputes," however, gained Socrates many enemies.
Though he left no writings, Socrates's student, Plato, documented his recollections of dialogues with his teacher. A staunch believer in self-examination and self-knowledge, Socrates is credited with saying that "the unexamined life is not worth living" (some ascribe the quote to Plato). Socrates also believed that the psyche (or "inner self") is what should give direction to one's life-not appetite or passions.
Alas, history is repeating. The needle has jump and the record is skipping.
One truth is clear.
Socrates's theory (like that of his student Plato) was that once the person being questioned realized his weak understanding, he could divest himself of false notions, and was then free to participate in the quest for knowledge. These philosophical "disputes," however, gained Socrates (and now Plato) many enemies.
Some things will never change. This is status quo on a whole nother level.
Ay gamisou, boutsokefalos!
If only these fellows would let go of the false notions and gain the freedom to participate in the quest for knowledge.
They would not listen
they're not
list'ning still
perhaps they never will.
The illogic of those who suggest Tina is contributing to waste, fraud and abuse by not spending all her discretionary funds needlessly is shocking. I guess the Anti-Tina Brigade has gone "full retard."
Should politicians smoke 'ice' to keep it from schoolchildren?
Should hot women be promiscuous to prevent me from going to hookers? (Actually, the answer to this one is "YES!")
Should doctors perpetuate diarrhea to prevent constipation?
Should parents gamble the family's grocery money away to prevent impulse buying?
Can you imagine the other candidates making this a campaign issue? "Vote for me, not for Tina. I wasted hundreds of thousands of dollars of your money on no-show workers and vehicle leases to keep it out of the hands of the Governor"
Yup. Full retard.
Methinks thou doth protest too much, GH.
Methinks the anonymous above is part of the disaster that is governance here.
Glen Hunter gets my vote for 2009 Marianas Beard of the Year even if said beard has been too close to nether regions not located on the Isle of Tina while he remains a less than loyal resident of said Congresswoman.
The argument is not that moneys unspent are later ill spent as appropriations from the General Account. The argument is that allocated a given sum ($96,000 or so this year I think), that Tina seemed unable to reallocate it in a positive way. So che chose the easy way out. I won't prepare a budget and use that money effectively. I'll just whine about others misspending theirs and do nothing. Nothing is exactly waht she has accomplihed with it all right. After railing about the benefits of a variety of projects she uses the funds to advocate for none of them.
If her fixation on transparency is at such a fever pitch then by all means disclose every dime. If spent on advertising to 'educate' the public on her way of thinking, then so be it. If spent to promote OGA application to the Legislature, so be it. OR whatever projects she thinks are for the benefit of her constituents and/or for the rest of the residents of the CNMI.
Instead she sits on her hands (or in this case on her wallet) and does precisely nothing with this possible tool for good.
Sorry, but I remain unimpressed.
Noni 1:52pm:
I think all the other 28 should sit on their hands then. Or better yet just get to work as Tina is on preparing a working and feasible budget. If this is done rather than spending time working on a personal discretionary budget that she has total control over and is not accountable to anyone about the CNMI wouldn't be sitting here looking at a shortfall for next years budget and stating that they will have to implement austerity holidays or layoff workers. The savings realized by the other 28 legislators would have more than filled the shortfall that we be realized by austerity holidays.
Again, if you feel so strongly that she alone should have the power to dictate where $100K goes each year than using your logic why not give her 1/29th of the entire budget?
You are arguing that she couldn't spend it wisely. She has argued that none of the 28th NEED to spend that much money. It should be placed into the General fund and it should be budgeted properly and accounted for.
noni 1:52pm:
you are unimpressive.
It is important to note that the discretionary budget should have been drastically reduced or removed upon creation of the Legislative Bureau or the other way around. Having both a $150K discretionary budget and a fully funded LB is not very fiscally responsible at all.
Anyone who would disparage Tina is evil sh@t. It's as simple as that.
The LB is bloated, the discretionary budgets are tantamount to payola funds and just because the budgetary system is not properly carried out, doesn't make it right to work around it by selectively handing out discretionary funds. Work on fixing what's broke, instead of throwing your hands up and playing the game. If not, the game will continue perpetually. Finally there is someone in the game who is really trying to stop it. The evil sh@t wants to stop her.
It is now clear why Heinz is overspending his discretionay funds. Because there is another he has to fund and support. He is getting this from public funds. Wow!!
Typical CNMI politics. Happens like CLOCKWORK. The closer we get to a gubernatorial election, the more people get dragged through the mud, rumors and doubts are planted in our heads, and if it's related to people's sex lives, the rumor has a way of taking on a life of its own and it STICKS.
Noni 6:44 --
I have no problem with anyone asking Heinz why he continues to exceed his budget. He should explain that part of his record. Fine.
But to say that it is "clear" that he has "another" to fund and support? Really? What is clear, exactly, and how do you know? Prove it, whatever it is that you "know" is "clear."
Otherwise, keep your vicious gossip, lies and speculation to yourself.
Dear Mr. Anonymous 6:44,
Here's some advice. If you are gonna spread rumors about one gubernatorial candidate's sex life, you might want to first make sure that YOUR gubernatorial candidate is a friggin SAINT.
When I look at the other three candidates, one of whom you are probably supporting, I see a candidate who is known for bigamy (two wives, two families), another who is known for being Mr. VIP at Kimchi Cabana, and another who is a front-man for most of the buy-me-drinkie bars in Garapan and known for his derogatory comments towards women.
But to tell you the truth I don't give a damn so much about anyone's personal relationships. Just can't stand hypocrisy and stupidity and people who can't mind their own damn business.
Here's a better piece of advice: Instead of trying to take down a candidate by spreading rumors about his sex life, why don't you give us some positive reasons to support YOUR candidate?
Throwing stones when you live in a glass house rarely ever wins elections.
Which one candidate(s) for Governor have a college degree?
Let it BE!
Danny Aquino running for House (who states he has a college degree) Quotes:
"The United Nations definition differs greatly from the United States' version of democracy, freedom, equality which reserves those rights for white Americans."
"A contract worker who has more than one child here in the CNMI is creating a deliberate act to gain sympathy, using their children for their residency status."
"I don't know what to say, but I would like to request our Washington Representative to demand that our local boys pull out of this conflict because it's not our war and to have them placed in the United States under a support unit or border control for their illegal immigration problem."
WOW. Guess getting a degree doesn't correct racist tenancies towards "outsiders" and anti-American sentiments.
Nevermind the degree. Let's refresh our short term memories. What have those running for all the offices SAID in the past. Did they say anything to correct or alter past statements they made?
Anyone catch this great quote regarding a couple that just got wed this weekend?
"Naturally every man on Saipan with a Filipina girlfriend is now under pressure to make their significant other, "next." Thanks a lot, George."
http://jetapplicant.blogspot.com/2009/10/love-politics.html
Wiiiiillllld!
Gotta love the Saipan Tribune archives. Do a quick search on any of the current candidates (or hell, do a search on any of the governor's cabinet members and press secretary) and be amazed at the stuff that comes up. I laughed, I cried, I got mad, I got sad! And now I understand better than before why the CNMI is in the crapper.
we, the cnmi, suffers greatly from selective amnesia. what is the cure? maybe the blogs? maybe the blogs can follow up the stories in the paper with back stories on the individuals in the articles.
CHC is in the crapper and Governor Fitial is the steward of the CNMI. If Ben Tan were a contestant on "The Apprentice", he would be the winner. Why? Ben's charm and charisma. Donald Trump would love him and hire him, and then fire him in two days after noticing he is worthless and incompetent. Ben's best talent is telling jokes. Maybe he can tell some jokes about Jack Abramoff?
We are the stewards of the CNMI. The Governor is our hired professional manager -- #7 is the best of the bunch, particularly when facing times of trouble -- but what the heck are the members of the legislature doing?
How many good laws are they enacting; what sound public policy are they implementing?
Or do they micromanage, collect kickbacks, and file political lawsuits?
why would you call a lawsuit that gathered information the legislature should have requested a political one? the Acting AG himself - the one defending the governor and finance - stated on record numerous times that it was not only the right of the legislature to find out how much was spent and from where but also their responsibility.
the legislative body did not care to do so and did not do so. they shrugged their duty. all but one legislator that decided to go about it via the OGA (a tool any citizen should be allowed to use without criticism in a democracy).
guess what. she got the info and now the cnmi knows that ben lied to the legislators and the people. eloy himself went on camera just a week after the first payment was cut and stated to MCV that "no public funds were used to pay anyone for the 903 lawsuit".
why the legislature and the public as a whole are not totally up in arms at being LIED TO BY THE GOVERNOR AND LT GOVERNOR is beyond me.
do we need 4 more years of letting this BE? heck no!
ben and eloy have demonstrated time and again that they are not to be trusted.
nice try noni 9:31am but my memory ain't that short and your spin is not that good.
thank god someone had the balls to call the governor on his lie and show the cnmi how much had been spent and from where. i hope the rest of the money is accounted for since the gov and AG have yet to produce all the records that were ordered released.
These last two comments really highlight in stark relief two competing visions for the Commonwealth.
One is a plan of action during times of trouble. Deliberate, plodding, but things get done. The best of island resilience and respect.
The other is “visionary,” bold, brash, confrontational, idealistic, favoring change for its own sake and casting aside useless remnants of our past like religion and culture. We are making a new culture now and we need forward-thinking leaders of the new generation like Glen Hunter and Tina Sablan to show us the way and tell us what to think.
There will be an answer, let it BE!
P.S. The former Acting AG made few or no statements on the record, certainly not the one ascribed to him immediately above, likely because he had been sued in his individual capacity by Tina, subjecting him to the possible loss of everything he has worked for his entire life and potentially depriving his sons of a college education. The Superior Court quickly dismissed him from the case, but the threat remained until the Supreme Court issued its mandate.
Is this how we recruit and retain professionals to serve our people?
Is this Tina's plan for our future -- to sue ourselves into prosperity? I prefer Ben's ideal of good old-fashioned hard work.
fitial sucks.
heinz sucks.
juan pan sucks.
kumoi sucks balls.
we need a new choice for governor.
fitial is bad.
ed says, "bota for si heinz"
i think both suck ass.
"Tina, subjecting him to the possible loss of everything he has worked for his entire life and potentially depriving his sons of a college education. "
boo hoo hoo :-( cry me a river. now we know why you are launching so many personal attacks against her and glen.
so pathetic. you don't want the heat you should never have taken a job as cook in fitials kitchen.
the ag is supposed to handle all legal matters that involve the cnmi. they did not at all "handle" the 903 litigation (the cnmi is suing the feds). whether the comment about the responsibility of the legislature was on record or not it was said by the Acting AG and it was on record by the AG in the briefs that were filed.
the AG was included in the initial case because the letter of denial never came from the governor's office it came from the AG's office and was signed by the Acting AG.
if tina really wanted to damage the Acting AG at the time she could have (lord knows i would have). the AG never saw any of the documents when the office of the governor was handed the OGA request from tina. the Acting AG simply denied the request en masse without ever gathering all the documents requested, analyzing them and then deciding what could and could not in their opinion be released. if more time was needed to do this the Acting AG could have asked for time. he didn't. he issued a flat out denial. that is outright ILLEGAL. AGAINST the OGA directly and completely and no judge would ever deny that and the Acting AG would be personally liable if anyone brought that to court. be thankful she simply included you in the case because you SHOULD have had the records (since the constitution states that YOU should have been handling the 903 litigation or at bare least privy to it).
you claim that she threatened your children's ability to go to college. are you insane? all our children's lives hang in the balance. you cry about your children not getting to go to college. go to hell. what of all the children of those here who can't get medical care? who's retirement is in jeopardy? all while the Governor wastes tax payer dollars on a lawsuit that even the attorneys he hired fear he won't win. we need a leaders that are concerned about this. leaders who don't circumvent the law. who don't appoint people that steal from the cnmi. who don't hide where money is being spent. we need fiscally prudent leaders that will lead by example. cutting the fat anywhere they can as best they can. not tossing the responsibility to others. we need dept heads that will run their depts on as tight a budget as possible. we need desk audits. we don't need 4 more years of this nonsense.
you are so afraid for your own child's college education that you have turned a blind eye to all the other people in the cnmi and their children. such is the fact of cnmi political life. take care of your own and screw the good of the people.
4 more years? NO THANK YOU!
"Is this Tina's plan for our future -- to sue ourselves into prosperity?"
are you forgetting that your great leader who has spent millions on the 903 litigation is the one suing the CNMI into poverty. not only is he wasting tax payer money he is also harming our ability to work on the transition openly and tarnishing our image with the federal government even more. it was bad enough we are run by the same old bunch that schmoozed with abramoff (eloy, fitial, knight, willens, peirce, etc) but now this?
4 more years. HECK NO!
fitial needs to let the cnmi be!
Glen, the CNMI shortcomings you "blame" on Fitial apply to each of us without exception. Public servants are no more immune from them than anyone else, especially when they are NMIRF DBP members, can't even afford the government's medical coverage, such as it is, and family businesses are losing money. We are all suffering. Thousands of us drive an older motor vehicle than Tina.
Anyone can point out problems, as you do very well. It takes a leader to work toward solutions.
There is a big, big difference between a frivolous lawsuit against someone in his personal, individual capacity and a lawsuit specifically authorized by Covenant Section 903 against federal appointees in their official capacities.
The latter is a brave and courageous act against long odds to stand up for his people and save the Commonwealth against those who have not fully considered the grave economic consequences of their legislation on the CNMI, not giving us the benefit of even an Environmental Impact Statement as would be mandated for any construction project in the country -- let alone a major social and economic restructuring.
On the other hand, the conscious choice to sue a government employee in his individual capacity, to attempt to bankrupt a public servant who has dedicated years to humbly serving the people without seeking office for himself admits of only two conclusions -- either the litigant puts personal political success and power above all other considerations (a lawsuit against a defendant in an official capacity would have been just as effective), or is receiving some very poor legal advice.
Either way, this is not the direction we wish to take our Commonwealth. We have way too many lawsuits trying to take money out of each other's pockets already. That is the kind of greedy or vindictive lawsuit we don't need.
You wonder why it is hard to recruit doctors and professionals to the CNMI? Such lawsuits by legislators and others against them are matters of public record. They have very real consequences. It is time to elect legislators who will do their jobs rather than exacerbate CNMI societal litigiousness.
refer to me as glen if you feel that gives your argument more clout. i hate to say that it does not:
you say: "frivolous lawsuit against someone in his personal, individual capacity and a lawsuit specifically authorized by Covenant Section 903 against federal appointees in their official capacities."
The OGA hearing is more than specifically authorized by law. The law is the OGA. The failure by the AG to gather the documents and review them was a personal fault and should have been brought to court and still can.
you said:" brave and courageous act against long odds to stand up for his people and save the Commonwealth"
that is your belief. i will believe in what is factual. factually, the legislature was and is against the filing of the 903 lawsuit. factually, every poll conducted showed that the majority of the population is against it. factually, the governor lied directly to the same people he claims he is protecting. factually, the Governor is going against the WILL OF THE PEOPLE in filing this lawsuit. factually, if he wanted to sue the feds on behalf of the people the least he could have done was get their consent!
you said:"Environmental Impact Statement as would be mandated"
you must be smoking some good weed. this governor has cleared land, allowed blatant abuses of the environment, championed development over nature, and so much more. you are now going to bring up EIS issues. give me a break.
you said:"attempt to bankrupt a public servant who has dedicated years to humbly serving the people without seeking office for himself "
again, boo f*cking hoo :-( you do a fine job bankrupting yourself. you did not represnt the people so you are not a public servant. you represented the interest of the governor and no one else. nice try though. spin away. spin far far away.
you said:"We have way too many lawsuits trying to take money out of each other's pockets already. That is the kind of greedy or vindictive lawsuit we don't need."
this statement sums up the 903 litigation perfectly. thanks for your perfect assessment.
you said: "You wonder why it is hard to recruit doctors and professionals to the CNMI?"
what? i do not wander at all. you and the governor wonder. i KNOW why. it is because of mismanagement and improper leadership. who is in charge of CUC? CPA? CHC? and the AGO until 2 months ago? gimme a break. IMPROPER MANAGEMENT is why this lousy administration has not been able to find competent individuals to run things. get your head out of your pathetic rear end and open your feces covered eyes you louse.
you said: "It is time to elect legislators who will do their jobs "
YES IT IS TIME! we need legislators with balls that won't cower to people like you and the current governor. people that call things like they see em. people that walk the walk not just talk the talk. people that care more for the good of the CNMI than their own personal gain. people that respect the law not people like the old Acting AG that try their darndest to circumvent it and require the supreme court to put them in check when they are called on it. we need real leaders that appoint people on merit and do not choose a bunch of yes men and hench men to surround them.
4 more years? WTF! OMG! HELL F*CK NO!
Anyone who calls for four more years makes "the stupid list" for sure.
Baka,
You are so stupid. You were initially sued in your official capacity. None of the defendants were sued in their personal capacities. What a dumb ass!
Check the prayer for relief.
I'm so surprised he is worried about his kids education. They allowed him to have kids?
Check the first page of the petition for mandamus and every motion filed after that until Baka was relieved. "Sued in Official Capacity" is all over those docs. Of course, you'd have to actually read the docs to know that.
OGA allows for government officials to be held personally responsible for deliberate violations of the law -- sometimes they even have to pay penalties out of their own pockets! (I don't think that's ever happened in the CNMI, but lord knows it should.)
And yeah, I'd say there were some pretty deliberate-looking violations of the law in this particular case -- not reviewing the documents at all before issuing the blanket denial, turning over documents late, incomplete, etc.
Sorry, no sympathy for government officials who don't respect the rule of law... no matter how many kids they have to put through college. That's hardly a defense and not at all a reason for leniency.
Noni 6:45,
Please return your law degree to the shop you bought it at. The prayer for relief says that if the judge finds that if Baka's sorry ass was blatantly violating the law along with Fitial/Inos they should all be fined accordingly.
On another note it looks like traffic violators can run wild til January!
We need more of our smartest local people like Glen to go to law school and do things right.
The actual text of a pleading controls over the caption.
Glen in law school? Great idea! Maybe then more of the girls he's nailing behind the legislator's back will be smart enough to tell Tina all about it!
Biba si Glen as the first male First Lady!
Wow, looks like some people are totally jealous of Glen! Is it because he's banging a hot and intelligent lady who has more smarts than all of the AGO combined? Looks like Fitialites are working overtime on the blogs, shooting off stupidity and rumors to try to mask Ben Tan's ignorance and incompetence. Lack of education and opportunities leads to desperate fools hoping to keep their political job another four years. Ben Tan is destined to lose. If karma really exists, Ben Tan will be sharing a small prison cell with Bubba the Horny Giant. Hey Ben, don't forget to wash!
Why does Ben Tan go to Kimchi Cabana and all these other little girlie bars? It is not like he can get a hard on. He is so diabetic the only hard on he will get is the one behind him in prison. Ben Tan, don't forget to wash your bebe! Bwahaha!
I heard Ben Tan still gets medical insurance under Willie Tan Holdings. How is that possible?
"Wow, looks like some people are totally jealous of Glen! Is it because he's banging a hot and intelligent lady who has more smarts than all of the AGO combined?"
Which lady are you speaking of? I ask because there are so many. Do the guys count too?
Being with a guy like that says something about her judgment, too. She's in over her head.
Did someone say head?
Glen is a good guy far wiser than many of the mental midgets who anonymously cast feces on this site. To those people I say, you care not one iota about the CNMI. You are political hacks or wannabees, who vote based on relationships, greed or in hopes of getting a job. There is no other explanation. You've got Tina, who is honest, unblemished, courteous, truthful, and courageous, and you've got the rest of them who don't even hold a candle to Tina. You know that. You are just so caught up in your own greed, you do what you can to try and besmirch her and cloud that reality. That reality cannot be clouded by the likes of you or your ilk. All you've accomplished is a highlighting of the true nature of the mindless selfish ne'er-do-wells who crawl behind this administration and old boy network.
Glen Hunter is the political hack, a cheerleader to principals such as Stanley Torres, Pete Reyes, or Tina Sablan. Attribute a "greed" motivation to those making big financial sacrifices. Blame the bureaucrat, the outsider, or both.
Same old, same old.
They don't crawl Jim...they slither.
And my, what a threat he seems to be to these jackasses who can't seem to stop gossiping about him. Petty, petty, petty. The sad thing is, some of these jackasses probably work for our government right now. What fine public servants they must be. Explains a lot about why the CNMI is going to hell in a handbasket.
Noni 4:17PM:
Please just shut the fuck up! You act like you are so knowing but you don't know your nose from a turd on the ground.
Go crawl back under the slime you just finished humping.
Ass licking toilet hounds is more like it.
Why I want to see Ben Tan Fitial gone for good?
Because I don't ever want to see his Fitialites running policy for the CNMI, which really translates to Willie Tan GARMENT policy. Who are these Fitialites?
Ray Mafia Mafnas, Charles Reyes, Melvin Faisao, Howard Cryptkeepr Willens, Deane Slimer, Lynn "I like married men" Knight, Willie Tan, Jerry Tan, Cynta "Don't touch my pozzolan" Kaipat, Flame Sako, Mayor San Nicolas, Tony "I don't know jack about running a utility agency but I'm learning on the job" Muna, John "I know sanitation so I can work for Ben Tan" Tagabuel, Pete Untalan, Ron "Run Pacific Gardenia Hotel to the ground and get rewarded with a job from Ben Tan running referrals to the ground" Sablan, and the rest of the incompetent, degree-less, yes-men and yes-women who have done nothing to improve the CNMI.
Good luck Ben Tan! You can fool the blind, but eventually the blind will see through the lies. No way you are winning another election, even with your big signs, your big empty promises, and your big loud speakers. Let your master Willie Tan know that we will not be fooled by you again.
Why do people talk about a guy who sells beer like he knows a thing or two about politics?
So he cheats on his girlfriend who happens to be a legislator. Does that make him bright?
Lite's out, second place beer guy.
Glen's a bright dude, who probably has access to alot more info than the regular joe.
It is all petty jealousy and an attempt by people who hold politically appointed jobs to try and take stabs at Tina Sablan.
I mean if the anonymous posters here attacking Glen really gave a damn about the CNMI and they were attacking him because of their passion for the CNMI wouldn't they also be attacking Pete's wife Glenna (the LB Director) and Rosemond's Husband Gary and Ralph's Wife and Stanley's wife and any other politician that they thought may be damaging the CNMI? OF course they don't. Because this is not about create a better CNMI this is about holding on to the status quo. The same status quo that allows their incompetent ass to hold a job with this administration. A job they will lose when Fitial leaves office.
Hafa Adai Voters,
When you make your way to the ballot box this November 7th, please consider that I murdered a kid on his bicycle while I was speeding through Dan Dan and blamed the kid for it.
Sincerely.
Ana Teregeyo
What will Glen Hunter and Bitter Ed do after the election when there are no more political propaganda dirty tricks to “spin” and no more political puppet's strings to pull or “advise”?
Thank you for making the CNMI a better place. NOT!
Thank Ben Tan for making the CNMI a better place.
Under his nose CHC has been reduced to the worst medical center in the Pacific. Under his watch CUC had the most blackouts ever and then he got it back to where it was four years ago. Way to Go Ben Tan! Under his dagan he sole-sourced contracts to Jack Manglona and all his Fitialites. Under his chili he had screwed everything up.
No more Fitial please. Give his old sick ass a wheelchair and let him sail off to China where he can go hang out with Willie Tan his puppet master.
Ben Tan will have to pay the price in hell one day and Willie Tan won't be able to save him.
Glen and Ed will go on working like they always have. Like they are doing right now. Free from foodstamps and energy assistance and WIC and medicaid and all the handout trappings that have become part of the problem here. Vote for X so Y can get a job, even though Y isn't qualified to do shit.
Yes, those bastards Glen and Ed. Shame on them for caring for the poor and the less fortunate. The poor deserve to be without power and water and food and opportunities.
Let's continue to sole source Jack Manglona more millions of dollars. Let's ignore the corrupt contracts of Ben Tan. Let's ignore the fact that CHC has only 2 ER doctors, zero nephrologist, zero blood lab director, blood supply at CHC is less than half the required hospital level, no pediatrician, no sound management at CHC, a dialysis wing that is still to be opened and went from $5 million to $22 million and had falsified documents, the longest waiting time in CHC history, more medical referrals than ever, and no plans on how to cure CHC.
Let's also forget that under Ben Tan the CNMI experienced the worst power outages in the history of the CNMI, and that Ben Tan ended up hiring Abe Malae and Wallon Young to get CUC back to where it was four years ago, only that their contracts are four times higher than what it would have been had they been hired as director and deputy director.
Let's also forget the fact that Ben Tan removed local law enforcement from helping DEA at a time when ice shipments are flowing in from mainland China along with a ton of illegal pesticides. 90% of all ice arrests involve Chinese nationals. And who does Ben Tan serve? His master puppeteer Willie "I made a billion dollars on poker and garment" Tan.
Let's also ignore Ben Tan's relationships with sketchy companies like Loyola and Flame Sako. I think we were better off with peanut butter and shoe factories.
Let's also ignore the fact that Ben Tan likes to associate with criminals, from his icehead bodyguard and driver to his number two in command Tim Villagomez to his best friend and corrupt lobbyist Jack Abramoff. Ben Tan wrote a letter asking for leniency in Jack Abramoff's sentencing. Why Ben Tan? Are you afraid Jack would squeal on you?
Shame on Glen and Ed for criticizing the most corrupt administration in CNMI history. Those haole palau tagalu boys need to shut the fuck up and just tow the line. That's what we all need to do unless we want to lose our jobs. You better be careful or Ben Tan will fire you.
Thank you Ben Tan for all your hard work in bitter lies. Keep it up!
Love,
Satan
Dear Ben Tan,
We are doing our best in attacking all your critics on the blogs. It's a good thing we have nothing to do during our daytime political jobs. We are so scared of losing our jobs and seeing an honest efficient government come in to place.
How are our ice shipments coming along anyway? This fucking DEA. I wish they would just allow us to continue to import ice.
Sorry, I need to go on an ice break now. I will be pumped up soon to do more attacks on Glen and Ed and Tina and Ralph and everyone else criticizing you.
Ben Tan for dictator! Biba Ben Tan!
If pulling off local law enforcement from working with DEA to stop the flow of ice from Ben Tan's mainland China, then so be it.
If telling Filipinos to "GO HOME!" and telling U.S. Congresswoman Donna Christensen and visiting U.S. officials that the Filipinos outside the Guma Hustisia are all "illegals who need to be deported" is character, then so be it.
If surrounding yourself with crooks and drug dealers, from your Lt. Governor to your personal bodyguard and driver to your commerce secretary to your lobbyist in America Jack Abramoff to your senior policy adviser who has ZERO college degree and a history of beating up on Filipinos and choked a student at NMC is character, then so be it.
If promising better times and bringing the worst of times and then finding excuses for why times are so bad is character, then so be it.
If leading by "emergency declarations" is character, then so be it.
If sole-sourcing millions of dollars of contracts to political friends and family is character, then so be it.
If firing highly qualified people because they disagree with you is character, then so be it.
If reneging on a promise of not touching CNMI funds for a federalization lawsuit only to end up using it and then FAILING to disclose how much is being spent is character, then so be it.
If running CHC to the ground to the point where there is no nephrologist, no lab director, half of the required blood supply, doctors leaving abruptly and suddenly, and making CHC a shell of what it once was is character, then so be it.
If circumventing CNMI law by exceeding the number of days an attorney general can be "acting" is character, then so be it.
If bowing down to WILLIE TAN because he gave you a ton of money and favors is character, then so be it.
Ben Tan has no character. What he does have his a track record of lying, deceiving, and spinning the truth. Ben Tan will certainly lose this election because he will never be able to get 50% plus 1 of the votes. He will be lucky to get 20%. Off-island voters hate Ben Tan, for they left because things were so miserable here.
Ben Tan will be gone come January, and he will be a memory of the past and we can use his four years of lying as a blueprint on what NOT TO DO when Governor.
The nice thing is that we will see the Fitialites removed as well, from GARMENT WHORES Dick Pierce to Lynn Knight to POLITICAL WHORES Deanne Slimer and Howard Cryptkeeper Willens to THUGS Ramon Mafnas and ice dealer/personal bodyguard Pete Reyes to the INCOMPETENCE of Melvin Faisao, Candy Taman, and a horde of others.
Ben Tan is going to lose and lose big. Charlie Reyes Jr hopefully will find a girlfriend and hopefully he won't sue her. Ramon Mafnas will hopefully enter the octagon and see if he can still choke out Korean students or beat up on Filipinos. Howard Willens and Deane Seimer will hopefully get a fucking makeover or finally decide to put a bag over their heads. Deane, for the love of God, you do not have to look that ugly. Lynn Knight will hopefully find love and will stop screwing married men and can find a job as a lobbyist and let her mouth work overtime under the desks of executives.
The people of the CNMI are fed up with the Tan Dynasty. It is time to create their own destiny without Willie Tan and his puppet Ben Tan.
Good morning, Bitter Ed!
Spinning overtime, I see, with the same comment in response to multiple threads.
How original, and typical of the tired, negative attacks aimed at Ben and Eloy.
When it rains it pours. Is it true that another officer in Fitials army has been charged with a crime? Franz Reksid? I think we will have to use some of the ARRA funds to build a new jail. We can dedicate it to this administration by naming it “Fitial’s Big House”. What is that? The 10th person closely related to Fitial to be charged in the last 6 months? I know now why DEA may not “like him”.
I also heard a rumor that an AG is being looked into. Anyone have more on this? Which one? Why?
What is going on?
Is this the same Deanne Siemer that was charged with gross ethics violations while prcticing law int he mainland less than 10 years ago? Wasn't she fined $500,000 and removed from the case and disbarred from practicing law in that state and removed from that firm? Didn't they include that ethics violation case in the textbooks that lawyers now study on WHAT NOT TO DO and use her as an example?
Why on earth are we allowing her to volunteer out here? Fitial keeps some very surly characters close by him.
Maybe she is volunteering because she can not legally practice since she had that ethics violation?
Can someone clear up or verify any of this info?
She is an active member of the CNMI bar fully entitled to practice.
http://www.cnmibar.net/mbrdtl.asp?var1=&Submit=Go&var2=&var3=&var4=mbr%5Fset&var5=S&mbrID=174
Noni 12:50PM:
She is a member of our CNMI Bar... did she really have that ethics violation in regards to a case she was handling in the states?
If so, did the CNMI Bar know this? Do they care? Isn't Maya Kara (the lady working together with Deanne right now) the head of the bar here in the CNMI?
Why is Ed so bitter? Because he can't buy land even though he is 25% NMD.
Ed is 1/4 NMD because one of his legs was made at Micronesian Woodcrafts.
That's "future Public Information Officer" to you.
HA!
OMG, Ed for PIO?
And is it funny that Bitter Ed has the same initials as Let It BE?
Did you read this story?
http://mvarietynews.com/cnmi-news/local/21176-administration-moves-on.html
It appears the original story may have been changed by the editor perhaps. I got this off the administrative site.
---------------------
ADMINISTRATION UPSET AND WILL NOT MOVE ON
by The Truth Reporter
The current Administration is extremely upset at a carry over from the previous administration that he believes is responsible for this controversy.
“After looking into this Reyes incident more thoroughly it is clear now,” said Charles, “that a former Babauta appointee from the previous administration is responsible for everything.” Fitial is furious that his initial desk audit of political loyalist did not turn up this individual who is responsible for this current incident when he took office. “At that time I put in place my buddies in every department. Their mission was simple. Check all staff and remove anyone tied to any party other than the Covenant Green party. I was assured this had been done! I am appalled that one slipped through. Heads are going to roll.” He went on to say, “ after the Local DPS covert and surprise drug bust slated for Friday at 2:00pm he will assemble the one remaining department head and all acting department heads and find out who is responsible.”
Reporters have discovered that the person that is the focus of Fitial’s anger is one Joe Senpasdot. He apparently was put in charge of destroying public records and inadvertently forgot to burn all outstanding drug test results and inter department evaluations and communications. We contacted him for a response but he was unavailable at the time. His wife however is asking for the communities help. It appears he has been missing since this story broke 5 days ago.
Fitial asked that we include a quote from him in this article. “This is just another negative result of Federalization. Please DEA do not bring charges against Pete Reyes. Like me, he is allergic to lawsuits. Let it BE!”
***
Let it BE me!
Bota Republican!
If you can handle the attacks on your character......Go Glen go.I give you 3 months at tops.
3 months tops... I thought you pinned him as Plato? That blog lasted well over 3 months. More like 2 years.
Once he stops selling Miller Lite beer and has his HA! administration position, the blog will become politically untenable.
Or once Lite beer sales decline too precipitously, as the case may be.
Good luck with that. Biba Tina! HA!
Boycott Miller Lite.
Let it BE!
I know that Bateman has made the MVA the conversation of the moment. And the conversation is why Bateman's employment is symbolic of the mismanagement that is rife at that important agency.
Let it Bring Evil? The goal's been met. Steal a new slogan.

We have one honest legislator. Maybe we can work on electing a second!

Jacinta M. Kaipat:
Committed environmentalist.
Nuanced understanding of the CNMI labor situation.
Supportive of the economically sustainable vision of Ben and Eloy.
Nuanced understanding of how to engage in racist tactics.
Supportive of Ben in any fashion speaks for itself.
Yuck to the power of 2.
Dear Ben Tan,
How is your campaign? Let me know if you need more money because I made 2 billion dollars from garment and poker. I heard you did bad at the debates and couldn't answer any of the questions and sounded like a retard but don't worry because nobody listens to the debates. Keep hiring more people and giving out more government jobs and you will continue to grow. Good move in giving $1 billion to Tinian to buy votes. MPLT is all Covenant so no problem.
I love the CNMI because they are easy to manipulate. Keep up the good work.
Love,
Master Willie Tan
The anti-business racism of Bitter Ed, Smart Glen, and Tina Sablan resurfaces once again.
Change? HA!
Same old, same old.
Anti-business racism? Ed and Glen have or work for private businesses. What is anti-business racism anyways?
Stick to your coloring books.
Ed works for the government.
When I find myself in times of trouble, Heinz and Arnold come to me,
speaking words of wisdom, Heinz will be...
And come November 7th they are marked on the ballot in front of me,
Saving the CNMI, Heinz will be governor.
Let him be, let him be, let him be, let him be.
Whisper words of wisdom, Heinz will be governor!
And when the broken hearted people living in the CNMI agree,
there will be an answer, Heinz will be.
For though we are all battered there is still a chance that we’ll be free,
there will be an answer. Heinz will be goernor.
Let him be, let him be, .....
And when November 7th comes there is still a light, that shines on us,
shine until tomorrow, Heinz will be.
I wake up to the sound of music, CEC comes to me via MCV,
speaking words of wisdom, Heinz it is! Heinz is governor. Heinz is governor.
Let him be, let him be, .....
Fitia is long gone… until his federal trial for acts of corruption.
Heinz is the governor. Fitial will do time.
Let him do time. Let him do time. Let Fitial do time.
And all his political hires will cease to be. Set them free. Set them free.
Greg would never use ellipses with five dots. The commenter must be very desperate.
noni 11:47am,
I did. I am sorry. I copy pasted the original lyrics and that is where the author had mistakenly used the five dot ellipses. Please do not impute ill grammar upon me due to a rushed copy paste job.
Sincerely,
G Baka
There is nothing very sincere about assuming another's identity, parody or not.

The incompetence of our Legislature is reflected in four special-interest initiatives on the ballot.
Reject them all!
No, I am not stupid. I will not vote for Jacinta "It's a good law" Kaipat!
Cinta is a person who has devoted her life to serving others.
With the revelation of the full consequences of federalization, and its abysmal CW-1 visa treatment of our hard-working contract laborers, the flexibly implemented Public Law 15-108 is looking more and more prescient. Jacinta M. Kaipat is indeed a visionary.
Also, the ability effectively to use the services of legal professionals will serve her in great stead as a Senator.
Cinta is the ONLY senate candidate for whom I plan to vote.
It will be interesting to see how all the lame-duck legislators spend their discretionay funds and vote between now and 11 January 2010.
