Yay! At least there's now the beginnings of a glimmer of hope.
until she gets eaten/swallowed by the system. we hope not of course.
another liar gets elected to office
I'd venture to say that the previous "anonymous" commenter is a contributer, directly or indirectly, to the problems the CNMI is facing today.
Rev, you should really delete comments like the one from "anonymous." From personal experience, It is not fair to the people getting attacked on your blog to not know where the attack is coming from.
Harry, Jeff, and several other bloggers, including myself, feel this way. The only people hammering on about the importance of anonymous blog comments are the ones who are making them.
You are better than this, allowing others to use your forum to unfairly hurt good people.
If it hasn't been specifically asked of you before, please stop allowing people to make outrageous and unfair anonymous statements on your blog!
When you do that, I'll put you back in the "Recommended" category on The Saipan Blog...because you really do have an excellent blog, you've just got a troll problem.
On Angelo's point, this was published here a few months or less back. It was especially bad and of course anonymous. I've deleted the name as it was especially rumor mongering, reckless, offensive, unnecessary and harmful:
It is well known inside our police circles that XXX was not just drunk that night, but felony fleeing the scene of a hit and run accident a couple of miles down the road from '1000 foot curve'. It does little good to malign XXX now by disclosing that information but it does show that there were other, less celebrated victims that fateful night. It makes the concrete rail there a little less touching to know the truth.
i say leave the comments. leave all comments.
only cowards censor comments and the reason they censor them is because they cannot handle the truth or cannot effectively fend off the lies.
if a truth is writen there is no reason to hide it. if a lie is writen and one decides to believe it without question then so be it.
question everything. assume nothing.
there is no reason for one man's mind alone to determine the value of another's words on behalf of society as a whole.
Glen, using your logic it would seem that you think it cowardly to say that one should not speak ill of the dead.
I'd demand that you owe this community an apology, but I've already done that once this week.
As I've already mentioned, the only people defending anonymous comments are the ones making them.
Those of us that moderate our comments have no power over what others write or say. We just have the power to decide what appears on our websites.
That is not censorship.
Many people have been unjustifiably maligned on this blog.
In the immortal words of Chris Rock, "That ain't right!"
;-) i can only smile with that comment. thanks for all the comments. welcome back sblogger!
middle road has chosen to make their blog available to the public for both reading and commentary. they have very opinionated pieces (including this "congratulations tina" piece) at times that generate strong public opinions.
If a blog owner doesn't want both the good and the bad public comments why not just make their blog available to a chosen few friends that they wish to allow comment on it then?
I don't understand. many bloggers want world wide traffic and they want to issue their own opinions however as soon as a comment arrives at their "moderation box" that either challenges their own opinion/belief they deem it unworthy of being publicly seen and delete it.
why? to save the fragile innocent minds that visit their blogs from such horrible treachery?
because they believe that their blog visitor's minds can not decipher what is true and what is false?
i can not think of a good reason to do this.
rumors, opinion, gossip, lies, truths, stupidity, etc. are all part of life. no reason to censor out the parts you don't agree with.
speak bad of the dead. speak good of the dead. don't speak of the dead. who cares.
if i spoke bad of the dead and you didn't agree with my comment then think less of me, ignore my comment, post a comment of your own challenging it or post a comment criticizing my belief/opinion. leave the comment and allow the next in line who visits you site to read all the comments posted and do what they will. do not delete my comment. that is cowardly. there is no "logical" reason to delete a comment.
can you imagine how many literary works we will never see because someone thought it the right thing to do to obliterate them due to personal reasons that they rationalized in their own brains.
as for anonymous posts: more power to 'em.
I think we have a situation where people are taking their blog comments way too seriously. To even call the best or most popular blog ever a "literary work" is asinine. To call a comment on one of our blogs a "literary work" is insanity.
******
I was simply pointing out that it is unfair to Tina to call her a liar. Why do you have a problem with that? If you are going to make claims against people, the person being libeled should at least know where it is coming from.
You and Tina may not care, but others do.
If you want to see how people's feelings can be hurt with this stuff, Glen, ask your sister.
Allowing this filth on the blogs takes away from the discussion and makes it tedious to read any intelligent commentary.
And I'll just say one more time that the only people defending anonymous comments are the ones making them. I appreciate your Orwellian attempt to label me, but anyone with an ounce of intelligence can see that those who need to cast insults from behind a veil of anonymity are the real cowards.
From Wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anonymous_Coward
"Noun 1. literary work - imaginative or creative writing"
-----------
insults cast either from behind a veil or from a publicly known front are one in the same. there is still no reason to delete them.
-----------
i understand why people don the mask of anonymity. in my one response to this blog post and comments contained therein the retort i recieved has included personal references which are of no consequence to my opinion. how my sister feels concerns me not when it comes to the topic at hand. she is more than capable of handling herself and she can add to this blog and comment on it if she feels differently than i.
-----------
i do know of people who cast insults and disparaging remarks without the veil... what of those individuals? the ones that make idle threats? the ones that attack one's grammar? the ones that attack the person rather than the idea? are their comments of more worth than the veiled ones because of the fact that the mouth (or keyboard) from which they are spoken is known? why? they both may be incorrect in my mind but i am not the only judge. leave the words and let the public be the judge. i as one of the public do not need the filter.
i would have to agree that i was utterly shock with that liar comment. but it also made me think and made me wonder who could that be? of course, detractors. and tina will have more of those. come to think of it, these politicians have friends and enemies. that anonymous comment is just a written proof that the enemy exists. but i laud such courage from that anonymous comment. he reads this blog and despite our opinion on this post, he made a comment.
the last one that should be more worried about this should be Tina. Sblogger has a crush on her. (joke) peace!
With regard to anything about anyone verbally degrading another person.. he is the last person to speak on this. I've yet to receive an apology after he referred to me and another person as "Dumb". I had not said one single ill thing to Sblogger prior to his disgusting little attack.
So you've got the guy who goes on these blogs making snide little comments that rarely address posts, and occasionally attacking people without reason, suggesting to you protocol that should be followed with regard to the blogs...
PUHLEEEZ!
..And stop "demanding" apologies. You're in no position to do so.
Lastly.. I believe Angelo needs to produce his own dictionary. He seems to love to "correct" people, without reviewing any commonly accepted dictionary.
the CNMi need more people like Tina"She got balls" Sablan to change the downhill course we are in right now.
Why is Glen Hunter coming out of nowhere either calling Tina a liar anonymously, or suddenly defending someone who is? Has that romance ended bitterly?
my name is Clark Kent.. there is absolutely no problem with addressing an issue/problem behind a disguise (anonymous front).
please or Pleezze. Wtf, If Tina was available you could tell from the line going up to her door.
I confess, I'm the liar..I told Glen and Tina this weekend that I couldn't eat a peice of apple pie because I was on a diet and then snuck into mom's kitchen and ate one anyway...guilty! Sorry Glen and Tina..couldn't help myself, but it was good to see you guys and celebrate your victory (Tina) this weekend...luv ya both!
and i heard about the fight at God's? what happened there?
The "booers" and "nonbooers" got into a big brawl after the concert.
:) Just kiddin'
maybe they were fighting to get in line :-)
good one BSF ;-)
i'd fall in line for G. ;-)
i didn't see the fight inside, but from johnnys I saw the guy calling someone out at godfathers... i later learned he was calling for the owner who threw him out.... he punched and punched the streetside plateglass window until he finally broke it... he tore his arm severely doing this... he was still yelling...only this time it was from the blood pouring out of his arm...lucky for him a couple of samaritans... bob hunter and i think glen hunter tied his arm up and held him down til police showed up... by then i moved up to the growing crowd and he was lying in a big pool of blood... he yelled all the way into the ambulance..
Oh
sorry, heard it was the booers and nonbooers. :)
Lol. Everyone, let's all take a MIDOL. Whoever called Tina a liar is probably some poor bastard who told her he was madly in love with her, and became angered when she told him she did not feel the same way. Some poor losers cannot handle rejection.
Or it could be someone who hates her views and criticism of our government system.
Like her or not, agree with her or not, it is unfair to call her a liar. If she buys a government car and goes on lavish junket trips and hires all her friends, then you can call her a liar.
But I will put my life on the line and my property in Mt. Tapochau that Tina Sablan is an honest person with conviction. If I had a dollar for the times she and I argued, I'd be rich right now. Does that mean she's wrong? Does it mean I'm wrong? Hell no! It means we're human and we don't see eye to eye on everything.
But I will tell you this. She is honest. She will tell you things you may not want to hear, and things you don't like, but she is an honest person.
Please, have respect for Tina. Congratulate her, and don't be a hater. And if you are the poor bastard who got shut down by her, dude, get a life. She got a boyfriend who she is madly in love with and who happens to be one of my best friends. And even if she didn't have a boyfriend, she wouldn't ever go for you.
I suggest you take a look in the mirror. Maybe then you will see the real liar...
Ed Propst
You are right on Ed!
nice one ed!
I like to think I was honest until I met Tina and realized that I have been a bunch of crap...I need to redo my 12 steps.
That's where the healing begins barbara.. with honesty.
honesty. lil, bloggers might get back at you on this honesty thing ;-)
or should i be talking about PP ;-)
(this comment was based on previous comments by bloggers and readers)
? are you calling me dishonest?
Boycott Porky's!
PP
And me Rev? "Honesty" is my middle name. Well, actually it's not, my middle name is Stalwart, but it could be honesty. You'll not find a more honest blogger here Rev. I say it like it is, every single time. That's honesty baby.
Right before Braveheart got decapitated, he said,"FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEDOM!" Yes, it was nonsense Hollywood, but it was a damn good movie!
So please, people, let freedom ring. Say what you want. For every one person that calls Tina a liar, there are twenty people ready to defend her.
That says a lot about a person's character. If anything, Tina is too honest. Tina, learn to lie! There are posers and fakers ready to teach you their evil ways!
maybe they were fighting to get in line :-)
good one BSF ;-)
