Letter "L" in Pakistan

I'm sorry to top Weird Elle's photo essay but this news from BBC just caught my attention, it's about same sex couple being incarcerated.

The Story:
A Pakistani court has jailed a married couple for three years for perjury after a dispute over the husband's sex.

Last week the court ruled that the husband was, in fact, a woman, despite sex-change surgery and that the couple had lied about his sexual status.

It also said their marriage was un-Islamic because it was same-sex.

The case is believed the first of its kind in Pakistan. The couple said they would appeal against the sentence and have asked President Musharraf to help.

(Click for full story on BBC)

If you'll see the photo, I first thought, which sex was it pertaining to, because the photo shows a woman in veil or burqa. Look closer.

Whatever it is, I know, we have all our opinions here. Shall we talk about love, companionship, understanding, even happiness?

Speaking of the letter "L," a big thanks goes to MCV's Bryan Pitt for connecting us to the world of boob tube technology. Hugs from me....

You are an angry one this morning, aren't you?

It would only disappear were you to bump off her post. What if you just bump it down? Perhaps she could change the time she posted to bump herself back up?

A blog war, seek do I not, but win I shall.

You guys are doing this anyway, so it shouldn't be any more work, but just a way to centralize some of the information.

whoa! i beg not to digress. after all, we're supposed to comment on the post people.

anyway, after reading the article, i got confused on this part:

"Shahzina Tariq says they are not homosexuals and they married because they are in love."

how can they not call themselves homos after being married to each other? to think that they claim that they are in love huh.

love is love. they must have been so in love they forgot their physical beings. "hey, ur human right?" "oh wow, you are too!"

*points at the above post* you shouldn't have remained anonymous, then i guess saipan blogger would react violently.

ooops, i digressed.

anyway, i'm curious: is love her main reason to undergo sex change operation or was she just trying to help her cousin then fell in love in the process? hmmm...

Hey bacla...if you are being funny, then nice wit....however with the wit, as not all are enlightened in the realm of transgendered issues...so I will add....a person willing to go through all the pain and suffering of a sex change does not make them a homosexual....in fact only 10% of transgendered people are homosexual...just like in the non-transgendered people (10% are homosexual)....the woman that went through the transgender process is no longer considered a woman, so therefore this man is married to his wife making it a heterosexual relationship....you can think of it this way perhaps....someone was born with an extra finger so they have surgery to look like everyone else and to not feel "un-normal" or "not normal" ( help me out saipan blogger LOL)...this is how transgendered people feel...imagine if you had been born that way? PS...the word "homo" is an offensive slang

Angelo Villagomez said...

How the hell could you ever know that 10% of any population is homosexual? What determines homosexuality anyways?

I'm sure many gay men know plenty of "adventurous" staight men. Do they count as gay? I call shenanigans on your statistics.

care for an adventure SB? ;-)

10% of transgendered people have 6 fingers?

to "if your being funny:"

point taken on the use of homos. mi dispiace.

on the issue of sex change, well, i have my own opinions on that. what i was just being curious as to when tariq first fell in love with raj--when he was still a she, or when he had undergone the operation.

how did you know that only 10% of transgendered people are homosexuals?

Anonymous said...

well you know how stats can be...maybe we all are bisexual to many different degrees

I attended a panel of transgendered individuals that addressed issues of being transgendered and out of those four individuals they were in straight relationships, additionally they quoted that statistic (without references)...in addition to that there was a transgendered woman in a social group I attended and she was a lesbian....

does it really mater if they fell in love before or after the surgery?

ok I was going to let saipan bloggers comments just go however,
10% comes from the 1948 Kinsey study...however that could be skewed as 25% of his subjects were jail inmates....so I apply the statistic to my life...and so far my experience is 10%...for example I'm taking a class and there are 21 of us in the class and 2 of us are gay hence roughly 10% ....there are many 'right wingers' who want to disclaim this statistic and claim less than 2% of the population as that is a much less fearful percentage for them to deal with....given the fact I am a gay person along with my experience should be enough evidence for the statistic at least it is for me...live your life honestly!
