Post Xmas Notes
Ok. Another source. Another church-related post. A resident priest shared his homily last Sunday during mass that despite the merriment during the Christmas and New Year's Eve he was sad that he had to spend his Christmas Eve at the hospital's Emergency Room anointing dead residents in the CNMI due to heart attack and stroke. He said he couldn't believe his eyes that the hospital was full at that time.
He implored in his homily, "Please people watch your eating habits...," he said.

That wouldn't happen to be the same resident priest that I saw having lunch today at Truong's and throwing down some nice, crispy, deep FRIED spring rolls followed by a generous helping of deep FRIED spareribs. Oh, and I think he washed it all down with a nice big glass of COKE. Hmmm??? Maybe? How many resident priests do we have here?
he he
haha. not that one. he was devouring the manager of Truong's behind the curtains...oops...my bad...
"Resident" means someone who resides here. It could be a U.S. citizen, Foreign Contract Worker, Freely Associated States (FAS) citizen, or whomever.
The former so-called "Non-Resident Workers" (the name was repealed by Pub. L. 15-108) were only non-residents prior to moving here. Once they got here they were Non-Immigrant workers, but "Foreign Contract Worker" sounds more respectful, and is not "rubbing in" their temporary immigration status.
Turning to the thread topic, I think it's great that you're attending Mass more often, Rev. Keep it up!
Peace.
P.S. Black background is bad for those with reduced visual accuity. Are you trying to drive away the old farts?
haha.
first i dont attend mass at all now, next is that black soothes my eyes personally....
you know, a few of my aunts, uncles, and even my grandmother all passed away during the holidays. they all suffered from the same problem: broken hearts. seriously, they all had someone they loved also pass away during the holidays, and so everytime the holidays approached, they'd fixate on the deaths and get all depressed until their hearts literally broke from the pain. its really tragic actually, that theyd fixate on the death so much here. it seems to be common among locals. :-(
Boonie, sadly that is quite common. There are several studies out there that have linked heart disease and sudden heart attacks with severe depression.
As far as the resident priest, that wouldn't be the same one who smokes cigarettes regularly? It doesn't matter. I guess the message he is conveying is to eat better, live better. But sometimes you need to practice what you preach in order for it to have some credibility. As far as him "having to" work on Christmas Eve, did he not take into consideration that is his duties as a priest? After he left, did he think about the poor nurses and doctors who were probably working double-shifts?
Just my two pesos..
;-)
dont get me started talking about priests MP. Ugh! I could go on forever! hehe...
maybe i will post some minor exposes here about it...
dont talk to me MP!

Hmmn, anyone who can get 44 posts on religion/fatty diet/caroling doesn't need a delurking banner.
