Governor race is on for Angelo, Cinta and Heinz

Yup, the blogging people (130pax) of the CNMI and the world have spoken and ranked Angelo Villagomez (40%), Rep. Cinta Kaipat (29.2%), and Rep. Heinz Hofschneider (24.6%) to be the next gubernatorial bets in the next election.

Happy now Angelo, at least here you've won something. Harry is not a governor material anyway. Let's just leave him to be the spice of the island--Le Critique.

Mike Sablan (15.4%) surprised me the best. Hmmm...could it be possibly, inevitably...
Former Gov. Babauta still gets the nod with 11.5 percent of the votes followed by Rep. Estanislao Torres, yes that's his real first name, with 9.2 percent.

The Tres Amigos, Rep. Waki, Rep. Babauta and the Juanpan each got 6.2 percent of the votes.

Well, happy with the outcome?

Watch for our new poll!

I still don't get it. The poll a few months ago asked the CNMI and the world, "Who would is a better future leader of the CNMI?" and Christina Sablan was delcared the winner with a major majority of the votes. If that was the case, as it was, than why did you not list Ms. Sablan?

Of course, one can infer that since Angelo won this contest and Tina won that contest then Tina would be the best next Governor.

Biba Tina Sablan!

Silly Socrates wants to ask the same question, as to why some of the more well known candidates were not listed. Was it favoritism?

Brad Ruszala said...

Good question, but maybe it's all in the wording. The poll asked who "should" be the next governor" instead of who "would" be the next governor.

Perhaps The Writers are insinuating that none of the options will have a chance at winning the CNMI's 2009 top job.

Maybe just so I can spice it up a little bit, why not throw out "Why isn't Diego Benavente's name on the list?"

According to people close to him (the closest), he will surely run.

Any thoughts as to who else will run for office?

On a side note, it's good to see the newest member of the pseudonym club add to the mix.

Though you may have posted comments anonymously before, your new persona will surely add a little extra spice to our conversations.

Thanks for picking up a pen name for us to at least identify the difference between the anonymous crowd!

ey hold on, no favoritism. ok, we have to admit, we didn't include Tina, because she is a serious and plausible candidate. that would've been too obvious that she's OUR favorite. Brad is correct on the wording remark, it's "should" and not "would," meaning these people are also hoping to be the next most prominent politicians on the island, and Angelo is obviously winning that race.

To clarify, Silly Socrates has never commented here before, since he has just woken up from the dead yesterday and marched down from Parthenon to the Middle Road.

As for the debate on "should" vs "would", shouldn't Tina be our governor, instead of Governor Babauta? Even in the event that Governor Babauta would be our Governor, Silly Socrates begs the question on the semantics argument.

The differences between "should" and "would" seem to be over moral obligation. Whereas "would" denotes the likelihood, the probabily of something happening, i.e. Bush would go to War with Iran, meaning the likelihood of Bush going to war with Iran is high, "should" qualifies the moral obligation, or the fiat, of an action. Such that, if we say, Bush should go to War with Iran, it would entail some sort of justification, i.e. some sort of personal reasoning behind the action. We would then, go on listing the reasons like high international threat, lack of democracy, and etc.

Now, taking all of that into account, are you still saying that Tina should not be our Governor? As she would be? Or, is this more correct: Tina should and would be our Governor.

how bout tina should be a wood governor because she's flat as a board?

Dear Anonymous,

If you can read, I meant FIAT, with an i, that is after h in the alphabet. Go look up the dictionary.

thank god sblogger doesn't meet the age requirement to run yet... and being that Tina and a few others weren't included places a cloud over the poll.

Brad Ruszala said...

I agree but it's not like it was a serious poll on some hardcore newsy website. There are brass poles on Saipan with more distinction. This was more fun than anything, or so I presume.

I can't wait to see what else you guys come up with on Middle Road. I love you guys and gals.

Angelo Villagomez can not be trusted.

Angelo Villagomez said...

...and I really enjoy how some people are convinced that I want to run for office.

Anonymous said...

u should. dont waste ur energy. strike while iron man is hot and gorgeous!

Angelo Villagomez said...

I do not believe in striking while the iron is hot. I believe in striking the iron until it is hot.

I am not eligible to run...and I don't have time to get bogged down in politics. Public service is more effective than public office.

Envelop Ideas said...

Tina vs. Angelo, that's a perfect match!

Anonymous said...

i had the poll on that one...;-) xena won.

Anonymous said...

Then why didn't you put Xena in this poll?

Pretty damn strange?

I would vote for Tina as governor before any of those you put.

Anonymous said...

tina vs. angelo...??? that is like deep vs. shallow, a supercomputer vs. a vegetable, a stand-up and shoot straight citizen vs. a hair-gelled photo-op boy, a ferrari vs. a pinto... (and just so there's absolutely no confusion I equate sblogger with the vegetable, hairgel, shallow and pinto) :)

Anonymous said...

haha. so funny.

Envelop Ideas said...

hey nony I'm confused, should we just say NO MATCH?

Angelo Villagomez said...

I am constantly amazed by how much I threaten certain people.

Anonymous said...

intimidate is more like it.

ALL I WILL SAY IS THAT I WOULD VOTE FOR THE YOUNGER GENERATION, I MEAN WERE ALREADY AT THIS POINT, WHAT DO WE HAVE TO LOSE IF ALL THE PEOPLE IN THE SENATE AND CONGRESS WERE NEW AND YOUNG FACES.....

AT LEAST THEY WONT JUST BE UP THERE COLLECTING PAYCHECKS AND NOT GETTIN ANYTHING DONE...

VOTE FOR TINA SABLAN, ROSEMOND SANTOS AND FRED GUERRERO FRESH NEW FACES WOULD BE NICE TO SEE.

Anonymous said...

there's a huge difference between "threaten" and disgust sblogger.

haha envelop :)

...who's fred guerrero?

...and it's not about age... it's about being a straight shooter and not just spilling drivle to get votes. there are a good number of individuals in the community who seem pretty straight and capable...tina sablan, mike sablan, cinta kaipat, frica pangelinan, ray tebuteb, frank rabauliman, to name just a few.

So why did Tina move to a new precinct one week before the deadline to turn in her paperwork?

Isn't she from Tanapag? Hasn't she lived in Garapan for the last several years?

Why is she in Precinct 1?

Anonymous said...

how many old people do you know up at the legislature now that are straight shooters? the money shoots straight into their pockets.

no matter where you go, the corruption starts when the power is given, but.....different people have different ways of using that power.

Anonymous said...

i know some that are not straight...;-)

Anonymous said...

I think that you run in the district you live in...doesn't matter where you used to live taotao.

I somehow doubt Tina's moving to a different district for the purpose of running there. She's a renter...you move where housings available... I know.

Anonymous said...

That is correct. She moved and must run where she was residing at the time of the filing. That was Precinct 1 on the day she filed.

Bruce A. Bateman said...

Which ones Rev?

If Tina moved into #1 to get on the ballot there it is not a very savvy move. Yes, 6 seats but also beaucoup candidates running there.
Seems she would have moved back to Tanapag if she were after the least competition. (3 candidates, 2 seats).

Ask her at Porky's "Meet the Candidate" next Friday, Sept 7th

Anonymous said...

haha. batman, you intriguing you. i will keep it a secret. Oh Mr. Porky has this politics and stuff? thought you only served the best strawberry daiquiri on the island?

Bruce A. Bateman said...

Strawberry Fields Forever.

As a public service Porky's thinks it is a good idea to get our politicians loaded every once in a while.

Seriously, Friday's we have an open mic/discussion/platform analysis with one or more candidates in attendance.

This week it is the above named Fred P. Deleon Guerrero and possibly (only possiblly since I don't have a confirmation yet) Speaker Oscar Babauta. Any candidate is welcome to drop in at any time.

Envelop Ideas said...

To Rev, can you give as a clue? For example, ex journalist or the guy doesn't like Tina, etc. Let's play Guess Who?

Anonymous said...

haha. sekwet.

Anonymous said...

here's a clue... the guy who doesn't like Tina has an unusually large head (unfortunately it isn't used to house a larger than average brain) and he loves to threaten good people with the "Spam Police" after riding their coat-tails. Here's another clue...he's part of an organization that was booming, that had a clear vision and incredible community motivation...as soon as Tina left the organization has slowly deteriorated, due to lack of leadership and a total loss of clear vision and most importantly leadership...the hater is one of the "leadership". So there are your clues...Good Luck!

Bruce A. Bateman said...

I thought we were talking about who's in and who's out, not about who dilikes whom.

I think we have no chance of dragging this out of the Reveler, however, at least not in this venue.

So Rev, comon over to Porky's and I'll buy you a drink to loosen up your tongue on this juicy gossipy tidbit. (:-))

Angelo Villagomez said...

I'm sort of confused as to what the hell you are talking about. I believe Rev made a joke about people being gay, Bruce asked for a clue, and envelop ideas made a joke (or not) that Brad and Angelo are gay.

Right?

Then one of Tina's supporters (or Tina herself since the writer alludes to Tina's reason for resigning from Beautify CNMI) comes out of left field and insults Beautify CNMI.

This is getting very tiring. Tina and her supporters should be focusing on real problems, not trying to make me look bad.

Envelop Ideas said...

to sblogger, the way you interpret the clue is not our problem.

But here's my guess, Greg of TTG?

Anonymous said...

wow... i in no way stated that you (sblogger) were the individual being referred to as the "Tina hater". if you feel it's you based on the clues... i'm sorry...that's on your own conscience. Beautify CNMI!...by saving the pets and providing textbooks (or something of the sort)!

Cinta, Angelo, and Stanley...right, we would be better off with Abramoff, Fitial, and Tan...at least the later is 10 times smarter and have 10x the experience with more ethics than all 3 ball less geeks. Why not Bateman, Harry, and principal Tudela?
