Quote of the Day: Alone on this Road

“The governor is going down this road alone.”

House Speaker Arnold Palacios reportedly said the above statement with regard to the lawsuit against US Federalization of the CNMI Immigration System.

In the report, the Legislature detaches itself to the Government Office's action on filing lawsuit against the US for taking over.

The covenant is a contract. Apparently there are some provisions of the covenant that needs to be defined. The purpose of the court is to interpret provisions and make it clear . Which part of this basic concept Arnold does not understand?

I give Fitial credit for fighting for the indigenous people. I have no idea what our Legislatures are thinking.

He's not alone. Charles is right behind him.

He understands it quite well. What part of it don't you understand?

Fitial is pissing away money that could be put towards schools and teachers and a hundred other things. We made a deal with the feds. We took their money. We took lots of their money. Now they are simply doing what we granted them the right to do under the Covenant, and we cry like babies that the courts need to "interpret" for us.

What does CNMI stand for, anyway? Can Not Manage Itself?

I'm trying to get that image out of my head. Yuk.

The complaint is so full of baloney it's not funny. They try to argue that federal takeover of immigration just means that the U.S. controls the border. That's b.s. No community in America gets to decide how many foreign workers it can let in, or which ones. That is an immigration function controlled by the feds. The governor's advisors are clueless.
